If you are related to her and would like to have the photo, let me know.
Thanks for the reply. I narrowed my search to Diana's sister Rebecca Lemon, after I found the parents, so didn't go any farther with the rest of the family. I finally did find that probably Rebecca came to Mercer Co., Illinois with brother Willam and did work more on that line. If I do come across more info on the Ager name I'll let you know. I look for the name Ricketts in that Columbia Co. so keep an interst in that county.
Good luck. Kathy Coe

Agers from Gravesend, Kent England

My great grandmother, Emma Ager b1860 had siblings Helen, William, Louisa, Alice and Katie. Their parents were Elizabeth (surname unknown) and John, or possibly William- I would like to confirm that as his christian name is different in 1861 and 1871 census. They lived in Enfield Terrace, Gravesend , Kent until the end of 1800s, when they moved to Howard Rd, East Ham, London. Can anyone help me get any further back? My grandfather Francis John Ager, was the illegitimate child of Emma, also known as Julia ( very confusing)I have no idea who his father is as it isnot recorded on his birth certificate.

I have some very informal, non sourced information that William and Diana were married about 1839 in Rohsburg, Columbia Co, PA and had at least seven children: Susan, John, Eli, Jonas, Harriet, Margaret and Anna. Susan m Benjamin Y. Stackhouse on 26 Jul 1862 and had at least 2 children: Josepha and Milton. I am interested in finding more about William Ager and where he came from. Do you have any information?
Thanks, Dave Ager

hello candice,
My name is Dave Ager and I live in Maryland and am related to the Agers from the Hudson Valley in New York who are the ancestors to the Agers in Cleveland and Erie PA, including William Neff Ager. My research indicates that William had a son Raymond Mathew Ager b 19 may 1889 in Erie who d 14 Oct 1948 and that he mar Matilda Stubbs 22 jul 1916 in Erie. I don't have any information after that. I have other information that precedes Raymond and Matilda. Let me know if you would be interested. Also, there are several other folks researching this same line and I would suggest getting them to coordinate information with you, including Daniel Peddie and Jean Carlson. You can email me directly if you want particular information. Thanks agerdave1@comcast.net

Hi Jodie;

I am hoping you are still connected to this thread. I will also try the listed e mail for you as well. The Wallace Ager you refer to was the brother of my GG Grandfather Edwin Frederick Ager. I can tell you heaps about him and his family as I have built up quite a lot of detail on his past. For instance I can confirm that he and Esther were married in Melbourne VIC on Aug 30, 1875. Yes he was born in London England in 1851, however Esther was from Tasmania, and at 17 years of age was given parental consent to marry on that day.
The parent names you have listed are correct for Wallace's parents. They and several other family members are buried in the Melbourne General Cemetery. Please contact me if you receive this message as there is a lot to share with you.

Kind Regards.

Steve Ager.

Do you have any dates for your Ager family in Maryland? My ancestor was Nancy Ann Alexander Ager (not sure why she used Alexander unless her maiden name was Alexander and she married an Ager). Nancy was supposedly a twin, born about 1809-11 in Protestant Ireland, supposed to have been in PA but I've never found her with a family there. That's hard to do with scanty census information in those years. She married Andrew Forbes in 1831, maybe in PA (or MD) since first son was born there. Later she married R.K. Crawford in Ralls Co. Missouri.

I do not know her parents' names nor siblings or exactly where they lived in PA after arrival in PA around 1814-16. I'm not new to this research. It's just that I've not found anything about Nancy in her early years in this country.

I noted your mention of your family in Ireland and Maryland.

Can you help me? Forgive me if I've already contacted you about this. Thanks. Joanne

Hello Jane,
I am so excited to hear from some of the Ager family, my great great Aunt Lydia Rutherford was married to Joseph Ager, they had 3 children , the two girls are buried in Cottage Hill cemetery in Dubuque County Iowa, and I think the son is buried in the city of Dubuque. My question is do you know where Joseph is buried, after Joseph died Lydia remarried, and believe it or not she married the man Walter Cook, who was married to Joseph's sister Maria Ager. I have pictures of William and Lucy's stons, the family story is that Joseph and Lydia are buried in the same cemetery as William and Lucy , I also have a picture of the stone for William Ager (Josephs brother). Also do you know the name of the cemetery that Adam Ager is buried in? (he was the son of your William)I have so many questions, and I also have a picture of Joseph and Lydia, that I got from Mr. Don Ager , if you would like a copy please let me know.
Hello June, thanks for your enquiry. I certainly haven't come across an Isaac in my own tree. I've had a look at my list of Ager surnames and I've come across a couple of them:
Isaac Ager, son of Isaac and Hannah, baptised 17/11/1801 at Danbury;
Isaac Ager married Georgeanna Reeve of Sandon on 24/3/1832 at Little Baddow
Isaac Ager buried in Birdbrook on 15/5/1828 aged 15 months.
Other surnames connected to my Ager family are: Jackson, Davis Crabb, Emmans and Neal/e. The furthest back I've traced are to a Samuel Agar and Martha Neal/e who were parents to Samuel Ager baptised 8/2/1756 at Great Burstead. I have a basic pedigree chart that I'd be happy to send you.
Best wishes Joanna

Re: Ager Of Maryland

I am also looking for information on the parents of William AGER (Born 1811 in Md, died 9 Aug 1879 in Patterson, LA). William AGER is my great great great grandfather. A biography in "A History of Texas and Texans" suggests that William may be the brother of your Henry AGER (born July 1 1820, Middletown, Md).

William AGER's siblings are listed as
Margaret Ager who married a STOVER and lived in Ohio
Mary AGER who married a YANT and lived in Ohio
John AGER, who lived in Indiana
Isaac AGER who lived in Indiana
Henry AGER who lived in Adams county, Wisconsin

Census records indicate all of William AGER's siblings were born in Maryland. The 1880 Census record for Henry AGER of Adams, Wisconsin lists his birth as July 1820, Md - a good match to the birthdate of Henry AGER reported in your post.

What is the nature of your record for Henry AGER that includes his birthdate and parents?

Jill

This could be part of my Ager family. In the 1901 census my Grandmothers Great Uncle Alfred Ager was married and living in Orchard Terrace, Wellingborough. At that time he was a road labourer but had been an ironstone labourer before, and had one child born in 1900.

His sister Florence Ada Ager was married in 1903 to Josiah Foskett.

A copy of the certificate you have would be great.

Amanda

My Grandfather, Charles Ager was born in 1887 in Bellwood, PA. His mother's name was Sarah M. Neff and she was born July 12, 1861. Those two statements I know are true.....after that things became complicated. I do not know if Sarah was a widow or if Neff was her given name and I don't know why her son's name was different from hers. When Charles Ager was around 2 years old, Sarah married Henry H. McKinney in Blair County, PA and they all later moved to Sussex County, Delaware and they are all buried in Bridgeville, Delaware.... When Charles was a teenager, he began using his stepfather's name--McKinney. Would love to find my biological Ager ancestors and my Neff ancestors as well.
Don, can you help me?
Nancy (McKinney) Cramer
Myrtle Beach, SC
I am definitely searching for family who was named Ager.
My Grandfather's given name at birth was Charles Ager--yet his mother's name was Sarah Neff. Charles Ager was born
May 14, 1887 in Bellwood, Blair County, PA. When he was approximatley 2 years old, his mother, Sarah Neff married Henry H. McKinney on February 21, 1889. When he was approximately 13 years old he began using his stepfather's name of McKinney. He later moved to Philadelphia and ended up in Bridgeville, Delaware where he farmed and then he retired in Punta Gorda, Florida where he died on April 9, 1972 at the age of 85. I would like to find his biological history. Is my Grandfather in the line of Ager's that you are searching for?
Nancy Cramer
