Matt,

The anniversary of Matthew, Jason, and Justin is coming up, and I always think of them this time of year so I was just online looking for articles. Justin and Jason died Feb. 6, and Matthew on the 7. They died in a house fire along with their Great Grandmother Elizabeth Lee. I don't know if you have found anything out about this, and it seems you were looking for answers a long time ago. Email me back if you have some questions about Matthew. He was the youngest of the boys, and I spent almost everyday with all of them for they just lived across the highway from me. TTYL

Michael

They are buried in the Ohio cemetery in Ohio City, OH. My Dad was from the Van Wert Aglers and moved to Berne. I don't know how or if we are related to the Adams county Agler's.

I have two letters from Capt. W. B. Agler, dated 1943 and 1945, when he was apparently serving in the war. They are addressed to his (probably) wife, Mrs. W. B. Agler JR. in Indiana. In one letter he addresses her as "honey chile", the other as "dearest". He has signed both letters as "Slim". If these are people in your family, I would be happy to send you copies.

I have found the obituary for Fred Agler now as well.

It includes:

"In March 1900 he was married to Flora Ford. Two children were born to them, Orlo of Deming, N. Mex., and Mrs. Ruth Larson of Hammond, Ind."

It also states that he "leaves an adopted daughter, Ardeth Agler of Hammond Ind."

According to Flora's obituary she lost a daughter prior to her death in 1975. Fred's obituary mentions two grandchildren; Donna Lee and Patricia Larson. Flora's obituary mentions having lost two grandchildren.

I'll keep digging, but if anyone has information about this family your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

Dan Shire
dashire@comcast.net

I am searching for the family members of Fred W. Agler and Flora V Ford.

One of their daughters, Ruth Agler has eluded me. In the obituary of her brother, Orlo Ford (Dan) Agler, she is not listed as a living relative. Her mother's obituary says that a daughter preceded her in death.

Ruth is on the 1920 census (Minnesota), but not on the 1930 census. She was born about 1906 (Iowa), so I don't know if she was married or had died before the 1930 census.

If anyone has any insight into this family I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanx!

Dan Shire
dashire@comcast.net

Hi John,

I am also a direct descendent of Frederick Agler. My line goes as follows: Frederick Ager> John Agler> Andrew Jackson Agler > Harland Agler > Clarence Otis Agler > Herman Agler > Herman Richard Agler > Heather Agler (me). My father told me that their family was from Columbus, OH and then my great-grandfather Clarence Agler moved to Pennsyvania working for the railroad. I was just wondering how close our lines were related and also what type of information you have on the family. My grandmother had an old photograph album of the family going back to Harland Agler. I beieve one of my aunts has it now. I would love to get in touch to discuss. Please feel free to email me.

Thank you,
Heather Agler

Do you know abything more about Jacob Agler? Such as his wife's name, his parents, or ow he came to this country? I am a descendent of Frederick Agler through his son John Agler. It is sort of funny. After 200 hundred years part of the Agler family moved back to Northumberland Co., PA. I also was born in Northumberland Co., PA and grew up there. It was fascinating to find out that my Agler family that I was always told came from Columbus, OH, actually came from the same area in which I grew up. I would appreciate anything on Jacob. I think everyone is stuck at this point. Thanks.

The Christian Eigler who came to NY in 1710 as part of the Palatine migration is the ancestor of the Catskill Eckler family. Part of the family spells the name Eiklor. There is a website under that spelling with lots of info.

You can find quite a bit on Christian in Henry R Jones "The Palatine Families of New York", 1985.

Although Christian married in Germany, the connection with Berks Co., PA is that part of the Palatine immigrants to NY moved to Berks Co PA after a series of "not too well treated by the British of NY" incidents.

I assume you are talking about Conrad Eichler-->William Agler--> Polly Agler. Is Conrad a descendant of Hieronimous Eichler? My tree is Hieronimous Eichler-->Jerome Agler--->Mary (Polly) (Agler) Hartman 1799-1880. Polly seemed to always be a nickname for Mary. Since I first posted here I have received more info and I do have some info I am willing to share on your line.
