Hello!

My name is Annette Agosto. I traced my family back to Antolino Agosto Matos and Martina Matos Nazario in Rio Grande. They both lived in Guzmán. They are my Grandfather/ Grandmother. My father was Julio Agosto, son of Jose Agosto and Julia Rodríguez (both were cousins). My father fits completely the description. I have an uncle named Esteban Agosto Rodríguez who still lives in Rio Grande. He says my father looked alike my grandfather. I'd like to learn more about my family. I grew up mostly with my mother's familiy.

Ella era mi bisabuela, la mamá de mi abuelito Antonio Nevárez Agosto. Murió en 1918, y tuvo dos hijos, Antonio y Juan, con mi bisabuelo Juan Nevárez Barreto, de Corozal. Petrona era viuda de Nicolás Arroyo, de Ciales, y tuvo dos hijos con él antes de conocer a Juan: Fernando "Petronilo" Arroyo Agosto y Jesus Arroyo Agosto. Los padres de ella eran Juan Agosto Negrón y Quiteria García, supongo que de Ciales también, pero no estoy segura.

I haven't got an answer to this one. What seems odd is that there is no letter Y in the Italian alphabet. That would seem to be more Spanish.

MY GREAT_GRANPA
1864, in Bari - Andrea Emanuelle Giuseppe AGOSTO is born,
to Giovanni Agosto and Maddalena Benedetta BIANCHI.

MY GREAT-GREAT GRANPA
Giovanni lived in Bari, apparently, but is says on the same birth certificate that his father was Andrea Di Gioya di Calabria.

MT GREAT_GREAT_GREAT GRANPA

Is "Di Gioya" a mame?

Or was Andrea also an Agosto, but from a village called "Gioya di Calabria"?

Hi!

My great-grandfather was named ANDREA AGOSTO, born in Bari.

On his son's birth certificate, which I found in Trani, Andrea is listed as ANDREA AGOSTO, son of GIOVANNI, from GOIA DE CALABRIA.

Perhaps we're related through my Giovanni and your Maria?

I hope so! That would be great!
p.s Andrea's wife in Bari was Francesca....not that it is likley to help.....:_

My grand-father was Amerigo Agosto, (1902 - 1964) Chicago & Bari) , son of Andrea Agosto (1864 Bari - 1932 Chicago), son of Giovani Agosto - of GIOIA DE CALABRIA. I can't find that town on any Italian map.

Andrea was married to a Francesca Reccia, in Bari, but I have no info on her.

my name is lorenza and i have some informations about the agostos.i come from italy. my grandfather was andrea's nephew. his mother mimì agosto (andrea' s daughter and sister of maddalena,amerigo,benedetto etc) was married with giulio poli and came back to italy, near molfetta. i got some documents, photos and a notebook of maddalena that can prove it. it had been a long time that i was looking for my american relatives. why are you interested in? have you got a relatinship with these persons?

My name is Victor Manuel Agosto, born in Juncos, PR. in 1946. My father is Juan Agosto Rivera from Caguas, deceased 2007. My grandfather's name Is Geraldo Agosto, I believe also from Caguas and deceased about 65 yrs. ago. My grandmother's name is Carmen Rivera, deceased in early 50's. My father has other children whom I have never met from other relationships. I believe their names are Carmen Pura, Lucy, Elvia from Caguas. I have never been able to know much of my family tree because my father was never around I and could never get him to talk about our ancestry. I cannot tell the origin of the Name of Agosto. My father's was born in Zagarise Calabria, Italia. That area of Italy was inhabitited by many nations, French, Spanish, Greek, Albania, germany, Turkey, and England. The dialect spoken there has a heavy Spanish influence. Most of the responses to this posting are from people of Spanish origin

I was reding your post. My father name was Jose Luis Agosto Rivera, son of Euterio Agosto, I think,and my grandmother Natalia Rivera.He died at the age of 55. I think he told me he had family in Isabella, Bayamon y Santurce. I know of 2 aunts and one uncle. My grandfather had other women too. I also know of one uncle call Roberto Agosto of his original marrige. My aunts are known by Blanca and Negra, but their real names are Maria Isabel and Isabel, they are twins. My uncle's name is Baldo. Iam trying to find out their background and origin. I thought it was Spain, but every time I search in the internet it points tours Italy.

My grandfather named Estaban Agosto married Julia Baez de guaynabo he died in 1947 and he was from Rio Grande anybody who know my grandpa he was white, blonde and green eyes and tall (good looking)

Hello. My family name is also Agosto and we are from the Rio Grande area too. My great great grandfather was Casimiro Agosto Perez who was born about 1844 and lived in Guzman Arribo. He was married to vicenta Matos Riverra. They had eight children. I am the great grandaughter of his son Esteban Agosto Matos.
I think Casimiro's parents were Francisco Agosto and Carmen Perez. I am working on verifying that information. Our two families are probably somehow connected. You can e-mail me at ricandest@gmail.com

The family Agosto one of the name is Margarita Agosto married with Arsenio Agosto.Have couple of sister one of then live at Colinas de Magnolia in Juncos but it move to New york. They live some of them in California.I just have the Email address for you to get in contact with them.

I'm researching the surname Agosto in Fajardo. My great grandmother was Fermina Agosto, b. 1888, died sometime between 1911-1919, in Fajardo. As of 1910, she was married to Manuel Montes y Alvira. My grandfather Demetrio Rodriguez, was from Juncos. His mother's name was Maria Agosto and he had a brother named Ramon. (Kind of excited now.) You say that Ramon's father was Roman (in my family we hear that Demtrio's father was Zacarias) but that doesn't trouble me too much as there could be a few reasons why (if true) this is so. I don't really care though. Just wondering if the name Demetrio has ever come up before? My mom, Maria Luisa (aka Wicha) say's that Ramon had a son named Omar. Mean anything to you?

On her birth certificate it says that they were from calle Betances in Juncos.

Demtrio was married to Carmen Reyes (my gm). They had a relative whose nickname was Moncho (Monchito) who passed away a couple years ago and he was married to a lady named "Yayita" I believe. Monchito was a merchant marine I think with a slight stutter.

My grate-grand Father Don.Felix Gerena Agosto was established in Guzman Arriba he was a Terratenniente in that area His father was Jose Maria Gerena and his Mother was Mariquita Agosto. I Know for a fact that theses Agostos all living in the area were all related. How? I dont Know thats what im trying to find out. Adyacent towns were juncos,Humacao, Caguas, las Piedras, gurabo,Juncos, People used horses to travel to these town to sell and trade goods.Were did they come from? why did they choose this remote area to establish them selfs? we are talking circa 1780'S to 1884 when my great-grand father was born

My father was born in tlatenango, to Jose Nicolas Agosto (1913-1995) and Ma. Del Refugio Sandoval (living). He has a brother in Guadalara, him and 3 sisters live in Cd. Juarez, has a brother in Deming NM, another one in Hobbs NM, and yet another in Kansas. The bulk of the cousins live in NM or in Mexico, but some of us were born in the states, and live in California, NM, Florida, Kansas. I myself live in Santa Barbara, I've been meaning to contact my dad's cousins in Garden Grove.

I'll find out some info. My father passed away about seven years ago the night before thanksgiving. He had some children who live in Boston, and one in New York. I don't know if that information helps.
