I think I posted the wrong dates in my earleir posting. My mother said that she was about 3 or 4 years old when her father was taken back to China. That would push the dates back to 1933, 35, or 35. My mother was born on July 9, 1930. Her father Ah-Chew was working at the Mumu Arps plantation in Alafua at the time. Any information on plantation lists, ship passenger lists, and any other information would be greatly appriciated. Thank you!
I am looking for Ah Yau who was buried in the Siusega Chinese Cemetery 1952. Ah Yau is really a nick name or part of a name. The Chinese Consulate in Samoa said they would help find information, if we had the complete name. I am afraid Ah Chong is a nick name or part of a name.
I found some general information in an informative article about the Chinese in Samoa - see http://wDragons in little paradise: Chinese fortunes in Samoa, 1900-1950 - mis
Journal of Pacific History, The, June, 1997 by Ben Featuna'i Liua'ana www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2375
Tavita
Hawaii/Samoa

I am also doing research for my grandfather. His name in Samoa as my mother knew it was Ah-Chew or Ah-Kew. He left Samoa at about 1939 or 1940 when my mom was about 9 or 10 years old. She was born in 1930 and her father was a farm worker at the Mumu Arps farm at Alafua. We don't know where in China did he come from or return too. Your grandfather probably know my grandfather and might have been on the same boat back to China. Any information please let me know and I will do the same in return. My name is Eveni Tafiti and I live in West Valley City, Utah.

Looking for my Grandfather who had to leave Samoa to go back to China, he took with him my Uncle Sonny, who was the youngest at that time and left behind his eldest Daughter, and unborn son (my father). I think he left Samoa around 1940.
