Kawehi, mahalo nui for your help! Yes, the Ahnee surname didn't start off as a surname. Our Chinese family still call each other Ah-something, pet names. My mom called her grandmother Ah Po (grandma) and her grandfather Ah Kung (grandpa). A younger cousin is Ah Mui. This being the case, not all people named Ahnee are related. I don't think anybody in our living family ever knew what the real, full name of our Ahnee ancestor was. What you've said helps though, and I'll try to find your uncle on Facebook. Thanks so much!
