"Paugata" nickname for my aunty Nelly Gasgoine 'nee' Churchward!

Classification: Query
Surnames: Churchward Yandall Ah Sue
Ellen Ah Sue and George Reginald Churchward were my grandparents.
I am the youngest daughter and child of their daughter Nancy Ida Yandall 'nee' Churchward and Peter Louis Yandall's brood of nine (two died in infancy and four as adults).

Mum's sister Nelly was often referred to by the nick name "Paugata" which I believe means snake skin - don't ask - that's what comes of eavesdropping to adult conversations about the past. I was just wondering if there was some connection.

I'm really enjoying this foray into territory I wish I had the good sense to get into years ago! Unfortunately I don't remember meeting my maternal or paternal grandparents. Recently felt strongly about having some connection with my family history - brought on oddly enough with the king of Samoa's passing. What a great gift this is.
