From the Winona Republican-Herald, August 18, 1949 -
George Ahern, 88, resident of Winona until eight years ago when he moved to Rollingstone to reside with his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Kohner, died at 8:30 a.m. today at the Winona General hospital where he had been a patient since June 28. Death was due to the infirmities of age. Mr. Ahern was born in Winona March 30, 1861. Survivors are his wife who is ill in a Rochester hospital; two daughters, Mrs. Kohner, Rollingtone, and Mrs. Samuel Schaefer, Winona, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Van Alstine, Winona. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity church, Rollingstone, the Rev. S. N. Majerus officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Winona. The rosary will be said at the Kohner funeral home, Rollingstone, Friday at 8 p.m.
