William Barter was born in Co. Cork , Ireland, as was his brother John D. Barter, who is my great great grandfather. John Barter was born in Ireland in 1828 and came to the USA in about 1850 and married in Davidson Co. Tenn is 1856. He and his wife and children then moved to Montreal and then to New York City in the early 1870s. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, along with his wife, his children and inlaws, his grandchildren and some of his great grandchildren. As far as I know, they never lived in Chicago.
