Henry Ahrendt b.ca. 1871 Chicago, Cook Co. IL m.ca. 1891 May UNKNOWN b.c. 1870 Ire/Eng. they are in the Apr 15, 1910 census for Chicago, Cook Co. IL where Henry is working as 'foreman in a Barn'. May Ahrendt states her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1888. They married when Henry was 20 and May 19. In the 1910 census they indicate they have had five children, only four survived to Apr 1910. On that census they had:

Doris Ahrendt b.ca. 1895 Chicago, Cook Co IL m.ca. 1918 John Osterriter.
Richard Ahrendt b.ca. 1899 chicago, IL
Eveline/Evelyn Ahrendt b.ca. 1901 Chicago, IL
Irene Ahrendt b.ca. 1903 Chicago, IL
George Ahrendt b.ca. 1909 Chicago, IL

Henry Ahrendt, the father of this family, is believed to be the son of William Heinrich Ahrendt b. 8 Jan 1832 d. 28 Dec 1894 and his wife Dorothea Thorsen b. 31 Aug 1832 d. 30 Dec 1882 who lived in Chicago, Cook Co. IL after immigrating from Germany. Both are buried in the old Waldheim section of the Forest Home Cemetery in Lake County, Illinois. In the U.S. they were 'Henry and Dora' and her birth cert listed her then as Doris Ahrendt.
