David - Who knows? I'm a descendant of Thomas William Aird whose mother apparently landed at Newfoundland too, but due to a shipwreck. We have no concrete information on Canadian into USA travels of the family, but do know most of our Airds are from Ayrshire, Scotland. Good luck with the search!!
