Catherine Aird and Robert Smith, Alabama

Hello, I am looking for any information about my G-Grandfather, Robert Clifton Smith and his parents. He was the son of Catherine Aird (12/22/1865) of Scotland and Robert Smith. Catherine's parents were: James Aird (1836) and his wife, Marion McVake (1841). Robert Clifton was a coalminer in Alabama and died about 1958 of brown lung. He was married to Fannie Clark. Any information would be helpful.

I am looking for relatives and proof of my Aird line.

I know that my great great grandmother Christina came to the US with her husband Hugh Brown. They first settled in Jefferson County, Alabama, was there family there?
In the early 1900's they moved to the Staunton, Macoupin, Illinois area. Living in Livingston & Williamson, Madison County, Illinois. Jessie Aird a sister to Christina lived in near by Gillespie, Macoupin, Illinois. It is believed they moved for better coal mining jobs and to be nearer to this sister.

Jessie and Christina were daughters of James Aird and Marion MCVake.

Marion McVake was the daughter of WIlliam McVake and Janet Scott.

James Aird was the son of Matthew Aird and Christina Brown.

Matthew's father was also Matthew Aird who married twice.
First to Alice "Helen" Norris (Matthew NOrris and Rachel Rae)
Second to Margaret McCron (James McCron & Janet Reid)

It is here that the questions come in.
It the first Matthew the son of James Aird and Jean Wilson
Or is he the son of James Aird and Helen Findlay.

And who then is the Parents of James AIRD

James Aird and Jane RONNALD or James AIrd and someone else.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Looking for more on the family of Andrew Aird, born in Scotland in 1849. The family came to America about 1882 to Titusville, Pa., and later to Pittsburgh, PA area. His son James Hamilton Aird was born in Scotland in 1880 and died in Monaca, PA in 1935. Would like to connect with other Airds of Pennsylvania or Scotland.

Jane Aird 1791 was born about 12 January 1791 in Rosskeen Parish, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. She married John Elder and they had the following children:

Ann Elder (1806),

Donald Elder (1808),

my gggg grandfather Andrew Elder (1810)

Jane Elder (25 March 1811),

Elizabeth Elder (1815),

Kenneth Elder (1817),

Isabel Elder (1819) and

Johanna Elder (1822).

John Elder died 31 May 1821 at Avoch, Black Isle, Inverness, Scotland. Jane Aird survived him until 27 February 1850 when she died at Rosmarkie, Black Isle, Inverness, Scotland.

My father was Ronald James Aird born in 1938 and died in 1996 (I loved him more than anything in th whole world). His father was Ronald James Aird and his mother Theresa Grace Aird both died when he was 9 /10 they lived in Aberfeldy, Perthshire. He also has a youger sister Helen Aird now Gooday. They were brought up by their grandmother and aunts their names were Davies Small. My Dad was born in Glasgow.

Marjorie Aird (b. in Liverpool) and Percival James Sinclair (Southampton?) had their 1st child, Eva Marie, in England then moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. There they had Margaret Eden in 1917, twins Percy and John E. in 1919, Marjorie, Wm James, Dorothy, Elizabeth, and Robert.
Percival Sinclair was a bootmaker in the military.

David married Catherine Hossack 8 Oct 1839, Avoch. After their marriage, David and Catherine moved to London. During the 1840's, their address was 40 Wilton St, Westminster. By the 1880's, David was in San Francisco, Ca (unknown if other family members were with him). His address was 8 Lafayette Place, Between Green Union Sts, San Francisco. Last known there in 1887. First go look at message 3 that might be some good information. message 4 is the same it got posted twice.. This is the earlyest family info that I have at this time.

William Aird's childrens name were Mary, David, William, Isabella (she was born 1820 and Dided 1896) my family starts here, James and John. I have no dates for any others at this time.

Isbella married twice, once to a Patterson,again my family line and then to Joseph Tanner born 1810 died 1891.

Let me know if you have more information.

William Aird Born 1785 Died 1860
William married Lady Mary Hunter (Daughter of Sir David Hunter) in scotland. They had four sons and two daughters. They all came to Candada from Kirkmichael, Ayrshire in 1829 on the ship "George Cannon" taking six weeks to come. They landed in Quebed. Both are buried in Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, P.Q.
