Jim

If you can get me a date of death I will go to the library and look it up in the paper. I have gotten a lot of info from the Monroe Evening News Microfilm. I will try to get some information when I go to see the clerk for the Cemetary in Azailia.

Uncle Melvin lived across from Grandma in LaSalle, he raised horses. He just died last year May 10,2000. Grandma died January 31, 1999. I sure wish that I would have been interested in this when she was still alive. I have wrote to some cousins, hoping that they will send me some info.

I am going to visit Aunt Laura Mae. I keep calling her and getting a little info at a time. She said I could come over, so hopefully she will open up.

About 10-12 years ago I visited with Uncle Carl and Aunt Jo in Florida. I have pictures and I am going to look for. I am also going to ask Aunt Laura Mae if I can borrow some picture and scan them. If I find any that you want I will make a copy for you.

I have really appreciated what I have gotten from you, Tracy and Amie.

Thanks.

HI

I found the obituary for my great grandpa Alonzo Albert Aiston. It reads that he lived with his daughter mrs Thomas leo Smith of 328 E. sixth street. Do you have any of the names or dates for a family history. I am finding some of the names are mixed up and spelled differently. I have been to the cemetery and the library looking things up. I could use any information that you might have on the Aiston side. It would be a lot easier if Grandma Miller was here to ask. I am not sure of all the sibling of alonzo. There appears to be a couple of Alonzo Aistons, Charles Aistons and Lester Aistons. I have made copies of the obituaries if you would like copies.

Thanks.

Interesting to see that my surname attracts the same attention and study on this side of the Atlantic.

I moved to NY in 1986. Aiston is a surname peculiar to the North East of England, in particular Newcastle upon Tyne.

To show you how rare it is, I have only met one nonfamily Aiston in my entire life...and that was last year.

I am an Aiston descendant. My mother was Elva Aletha Aiston, daughter of Albert Alonzo Aiston (The only Grampa I new) He used to be a mailman in Azalia, horse and buggy days, horse's name was Darby. (How's that for trivia?) I was told once that there is a book on the Aiston Family in the Monroe County library. I knew his brother, Emory as Uncle Tom. UncleTom had a son named Kenneth. and I think they lived in Milan. I heard the name Masten as I was growing up. I think it was the name of the man who married my great grandmother who had been widowed some time after giving birth to my grandpa's first wife, Mayme Moore. I had an Aunt Rosabell DeVee whom I used to visit when I was in Michigan in the late 60's, If you can straighten me out on any of this I would appreciate it.

I know Rosabell DeVee was a Masten. Dean and Rosabell were very good friends of my father and mother. I also worked with Rosabell in the grocery store in Milan. I have her father and mother being Abraham D. Masten b.1861 d. 1931 and Annis (Anna) L. Moore.

Delbert had a speech impediment. They had one son that was killed in an auto accident and I remember a younger son named Lonnie. I also remembe4r going to a party where my husband's grandfather played the fiddle. I think his name was Alonzo.

Hi
Sorry I'm not going to be much help. I do not know Roberts date/place of birth or his date/place of death. All I know is that Robert came from Canada to Genesse County,New York.
He married Sarah Leete in Batavia, New York Nov 16 1844.
2 children Albert Alonzo & Charles. I have a copy of a book called Aiston/Chamberlain Family History. The book starts with Robert and Sarah Aiston. The author gave a copy to my husbands family on a trip to the UK in 1983.
If I find more info I'll get in touch.
Carol Aiston

I hav a souvenir from Christmas 1907 Azalia School. Its a two page card tied to gether with a ribbon. The first page has a picture of the teacher and it lists as officers of the school a Dr. Alonzo Aiston as Director. Inside is listed all of the students. There are three Aistons listed as students, Eva, Ruth, and Aletha. What I would like to know is how Lester Aiston is related to these people.
