Thanks for the email about the Aitchisons. I'm afraid I cannot add much to your research. All I know is that (my) Janet Campbell (who married John Aitchison) was born in Leadhills, near Crawford between April and July 1812. The information on her death certificate is that her parents were John Campbell and Janet Pringle.

I did not know she had a brother Daniel - although her youngest son was called Daniel. If (your) Daniel's mother is Janet Turnbull, it seems likely that he is either a step-brother or from a different Campbell family. When was he born? (My) Janet married John Aitchison in the Carnwath district of Lanarkshire. He came from Wilsontown in Carnwath district. Since Janet's father, John Campbell, was recorded on her death certificate as a coal miner, I suspect he was a lead miner in the Leadhills area mines at the time of her birth and later moved to the coal/iron mines in the Wilsontown/Carnwath/Lesmahagow area between her birth and marriage.

I would be very interested in anything you can give me about Janet's siblings and parents.

If you want more info on (my) Janet's life and family after her marriage do get back to me. I don't have a great deal of info, but I do have some eg the names of her children etc.

Hi,

I'm related to Daniel Campbell, the brother of your Janet Aitchison (nee Campbell). I'm trying to trace their parents John and Janet (Turnbull) but not getting very far. Daniel said that he was born in Muirkirk, Ayrshire on the Census. Would be interested to know if you've got any further back as it's really frustrating!

Hope you don’t mind me bothering you but I have done quite a lot of research on the Millers and hope you can answer a couple of questions for me.
I believe your mother was married to George Miller but as this was a fairly common name among Millers, would you mind telling me the names of his parents so I can tie him in to the family or not.
My other big problem is finding the death (date & place) of William Miller who was born about 1811 and moved his family from Edinburgh to Eyemouth. His son George (father of your gg grandfather William) is the line that we are all descended from but I have details about his siblings and their families. Have you ever heard anything about the death of William?
If you would like a copy of the family tree as far as I have gone please email me at cerddin2110@hotmail.co.uk. I have added the details you have given me and will be showing it to my mum’s sister, Ann Herdman Hall Hooker later in the year when I visit her in Northumberland.

Thank you for your information again.My Great Grandfather was William Miller,he was the cox of the Eyemouth lifeboat for several years.He was awarded the bronze medal.
Libby lowrie was my aunt,she is now dead as well,her other sisters were Anne,Barbera,Ellen and Janet my mother.

My mother Margaret Miller Hall(b1927) ( granddaughter of Margaret Miller who was the sister of William Miller, fisherman, b.1868 d.1935 in Eyemouth who m. 1887 Janet Black) used to go up to Eyemouth with her grandmother Meg and played with a Libby Lowrie.
My mother died in 2003 - before I started family tree research and I wish she could have known about it all.

Was married to Margaret W Miller born 1888.
died Jul. 1948. Eyemouth aged 66.
They had 5 daughters.

According to the KirkMichael, Dumfries Church records I have found, William and Margaret Miller Aitcheson have 3 children listed, James, bapt March 7,1825, Euphema, bapt August 11, 1828, and John born Jan 31, 1832, bapt Feb 5, 1832. There are lots of small burgs around Annan, perhaps he was not from Annan, but maybe Kirkmichael, where his children were baptized before they came to NS?

My husband's great great grandfather was William annett - his father was Thomas and mother mentioned as Sarah Geddes. William had a sister Ann and some borthers. Any information would be appreciated. William immigrated to New Zealand in 1861 and settled eventually in Hinds, Canterbury, NZ where he was buried at the Hinds cemetary near his farm in Annett Road.

I just found your post about Adam Aitchison born Haddington, East Lothian.

My 3 x great grandfather was James Aitchison, a canvas weaver born 1796 in Haddington. His daughter, Helen or Ellen married James Dutton. They had a daughter Agnes who married Andrew Chapman. Their daughter Helen Aitchison Chapman was my grandmother. She married John Taylor and my dad was one of their sons.

The family lived in Leith, Edinburgh but according to 1851 census, James was born in Haddington. Attached for your opinion.

Do you think we could be related to the same family.

M1850 Protestant Marriages in the District of Bedford, Quebec 1804 -1879 by Neil Broadhurst. Parents 1st son of James Coupland & Mary of Granby

James Coupland, born 30 Nov 1787 in England or Scotland; died ABT 1872 in Quebec, Canada. He married Mary Brown, born ABT 1798 in England; died ABT 1876 in Quebec, Canada.

Notes for James Coupland:
1861 Census Canada East, Shefford, Granby
James Copland, Farmer, 79 yrs (not sure of yr)
Mary Copland 69 yrs

I believe you could find more church records for this family in Ancestry's Drouin Collection.

According to another connection and my research, James Copland and Mary Brown had a son Frederick b abt 1831 m Agnes Aitchison 27 May 1865 in Montreal, Quebec and had 6 children all born in Granby, Quebec.

This is a long shot, I haven't been to this board in years, just saw your post.

Yes, I remember Don and Ann, and their son, we called him Donny. We lived in the Maryland suburbs of DC, and I can remember Ann, Don, and Donny visiting one time. Also saw them once or twice at functions in Pa.
