Hello Robert:
My grandmother was Nolie Hand, she had eight siblings all of whom were born in Lauderdale Co. MS between 1898 - 1922. Her parent's were Sandy Hand and Sallie Hopkins found on the 1920 census in Lauderdale Co. Theire children were: Nolie, Sandy Jr., Goldie, Rosie Bell, H.D. (Henry), R. D. (Robert), Lola, Lula Mae, and Willie. Sandy Sr. died in Jones Co., Laurel, MS. His father was Jim and he was married to Marcella Walker, they both were slaves and lived in Lauderdale Co., Clarke Co., MS and in AL. They died in Hattiesburg, MS. I am trying to locate the siblings of Jim, I know he had a brother named John, and the siblings of Sandy. Family history states that Jim father was killed on a plantation or farm in Alabama, by the master's grandson because he was considered to old to work. He was shot in the head three times. If anyone could be of assistance please contact me.
