FLETCHER, N.C. – Mrs. Camille Alaback Gibbons, 93, died peacefully May 12, 2011, at Universal Health Care.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Morain of Fletcher; three grandchildren, Camille Morain Burch of Lawrenceville, Ga., Grant Gibbons Morain and wife Kristine of Atlanta and Ryan Ream Morain and wife Kimberly of Canfield, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Ream Gibbons and adopted son, Charles Tolerton father of Randy and Rodney Tolerton and grandfather of four.
Camille Alaback was born in Salem, Ohio on Aug. 1, 1917, the daughter of Ethel Alaback.
She married Chester Gibbons in 1937.
Chet and Camille relocated to Canfield, Ohio where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years for the family engineering business, The Guide Company.
When the company was sold, she worked as an executive assistant for several years at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. S
he spent the final 17 years of her professional career employed in Volunteer Services at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio until she retired in 1994.
Camille was an active member of the Canfield (Ohio) Historical Society and served as financial secretary for the Canfield Presbyterian Church.
Upon retirement, she relocated to Dacula, Ga., where she became a member of and volunteered as a bookkeeper at the First United Methodist Church of Dacula.
In the late 1990s, Camille once again relocated to the Asheville, N.C. area, where she was a member of the Arden Presbyterian Church and was active in Sunday School and other volunteer activities as her health would allow.
She spent the last four years as a resident of Universal Health Care in Fletcher.
Camille Gibbons will be returned to Salem, Ohio where she will be interred with her husband and mother.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 3, 2011, at Hope Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.
