My name is Bruce R. Alarie, my father is Wayne P. Alarie, his father was Elmo C. Alarie, his father was Olesime Alarie, all of Bay City. My understanding of the Bay City/Flint family split was that is was over a debt owed for a grocery bill that turned very ugly at a funeral. I am unsure of the participants however my Dad has told me the story on a couple of occassions. Dad is still living and located in the Bay City area and can be easliy located; he is the only Wayne P. Alarie you will find. I hope this is helpful.

I am Allan Alarie and I just came across this thread about my grandparents Fabien & Amanda Alarie. My father was Rudolph Alarie. He lived in Georgiaville, RI for most of his life. He was born in Grovsnerdale (sp?), CT. He died in 1982. My mother, Mary Bella Alarie (Pimenta) turned 93 in November.
If you're interested, I have a few nice pictures of my grandparents that I could post for you; also pictures of some other members of our Alarie ancesters: my aunt Helen and her husband Al, my uncle Joe and his wife Barbara, my uncle Billy (Arthur's dad), my uncle Benny and his wife Rose, uncle Pete, etc.

Hi, sorry, there seems to have been a glitch with my email and I just got your reply. To clarify, I am the biological daughter of Gil. I was born May 5, 1971. I was in contact with Kevin briefly and we had exchanged photos, info, etc. I then contacted Gil via a letter and never got a reply. I then tried contacting Kevin again several times and again got no reply. I am completely confused at to what happened. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We have been told that he was born in Spencer, Ma. but we have never found any record of it. We also cannot find where he died. He had two 2 children Frank Jr. and Alice that lived in Canada.
Just goes to show that if you try something new, it might come up with a result
1910 census for Brockton Mass, Ward 6

Frank Elery 28
Clara Elery 30
married 4 years, 2 children and both living
Frank H. 3
Blanche A. (could this be Blanche Alice?) 9/12

1920 census Plymouth, Rockland, MA

Clara G Alarie 40 Widowed
Francis H 12

No daughter listed so she might have died?

Also living with her brother Dennis DeCote 27 and sister Josephine DeCote 31. Not sure if the last name is DeCote but this is what it looks like and Ancestry has transcribed it that way too.

Could find nothing in the 1930 census so Clara might have died or remarried before then, but don't know anything for sure.

Hope this helps.

Found a Frank Alarie in the 1900 census living with his mother in Spencer, Mass. He was born in MA in April, 1881 according to the info on the census. I wasn't able to find any other information on a Frank Alarie born in Mass. so the name might have been spelled different on a later census, or he might have registered for the WWI draft under a different spelling. Sorry I couldn't help more. There is no record of his death in North Dakota.

Ann: I have been terribly remiss in following through on my research. Whatever information you have on Armena Alarie (Allarie) would be appreciated. I have her listed in the 1910 census Bay City census as living with her son-in-law Edward and his family. That indicates she came to the US in 1882. I also have a copy of the marriage of her daughter Lucy to Edward in Bay City in 1896. The 1910 is the only census record I have for her. Thanks, Sue

The parents of Malvina were Ludger Duhaime and Julie Carufel. I do not have more on that side of the family. It is possible that Raphaël and Malvina were related through the Carufels.
Malvina were married in Sept. 30, 1873 in Louiseville (Berthier-Montcalm County, the actual federal county) of Québec.
Raphaël parents were Louis A. and Anastasie Sicard-de-Carufel (again!). I do not know where they were married but their marriage contract is dated Feb. 13, 1836 done by notary Joseph-Charles Bourassa (#547).
I am not related to these Alaries but I am doing a Alary-Alarie dictionary.
It would be easier to continue by private e-mail, because I have their ancestors till their arival in New-France.
Gilles
gcamireXsynapse.net
(replace the X by @)

My Uncle Joe Alarie died a few years ago and was the last surviving son of the twelve children. It was surprising to see Meme and Pepe's name on this sight as they have been gone for years. Look forward to hearing from anyone who is connected to the family

Unfornately I do not know who her parents were. The earliest records I have of her is the wedding of their daughter, Lucy, in the 1896 church records. The only census record I have for her is 1910, when she was living with the daughter and son-in-law at 515 Broadway, Bay City. At that time it is indicated that she was 79, a widow, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, came to U.S. in 1882. I know the 1890 census has been destroyed, but if you have something from 1900, I would certainly appreciate it. I have yet to figure out where the Alarie's came from in Quebec, and I understand that is the difficult part. You need to know exactly the province, city, etc. to be able to trace them.

Thanks again for the help.

Sue

Ann:

I don't have the names Olesime or Philomene in any of my records. Could these be the parents of Arthur Alarie? Unfortunately my records only start in Bay City after their immigration from Canada in 1882. My census record of Armena Alarie from 1910 indicates she has three of eight children alive, could Joseph be one of hers? Obviously Lucy immigrated with her parents in 1882; I'm wondering how many of the eight came as well.

Please email me directly at penbryn@gtlakes.com.
Thank you. I have found Olesime and Philomene Alarie at the old part of St. Patrick cemetery. St. Joseph Church records state that Joseph (Ellore) is buried there (died 1898), but I haven't found him yet. There is a Joseph Alarie who died in 1897 also. He should be near Olesime. I did see one unreadable gravestone near Olesime that may be his. Do you know who Olsime Alarie's parents were?
