Hello - I found a picture album today in an antique store in Olympia, WA that included a picture of Tommy Alban - 1895. I don't know how he's connected to the Coats/Coates family who appeared to own this album. The picture is faded, but it is of a little boy, outside a house - perhaps in the wintertime. I believe the Coats/Coates family lived in the Aberden/Raymond area of Washington State. I will be happy to scan and send to those interested.
Please help. I am looking for the descendant families of this couple. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

Following is the obituary for Margaret Thomas Alban, paper and date unknown, transcribed verbatim. The paper is more than likely from Jackson County, Ohio and the date would be approximately June or July of 1908.

"Margaret Alban

By the Rev. David Thomas

After an illness of some time, but not considered serious until very near the end, passed away quietly at her home in Oak Hill last Wednesday morning about half past ten oclock, at the age of 56 years 9 months and 2 days She was the daughter of John and Ann Thomas and the third of a family of eight children, five sisters and three brothers and the sixth of them to pass out of life, two only remaining. She was born near Tyn Rhos September 10, 1851. She was united in marriage to Mr. James Alban Oct 14, 1880. Two sons were born to them, namely, John Alban of Jackson, and William Thomas at home. About 25 years of age married life of nearly 28 years was spent at Oak Hill. She united with the church at Tyn Rhos when about 14 years of age and in coming to Oak Hill about 25 years ago transferred her membership to the Congregational church of this place, where she remained a faithful member to the end. She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and tenderhearted wife and mother, a husband, two sons, one brother and one sister with a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted on Tuesday, 10 a. m. Services at the house and at the church. Revs Samuel Griffiths, David Thomas, Roland Jones, John Evans and G C Evans taking part. David Jenkins in charge.

A very large number of people were present. Among those from a distances we saw Mrs Elizabeth Thomas, Mrs Jas E Davis, Thurman, R 1."

Anyone with any information on this family, please contact me. Thank you in advance.

Then your a descendant of Charles Henry Martin and Minnie Bell Alban. Do you know if Charles Henry Martin had relatives around Muscotah, Atchison Co., KS? I know that William Frederick Alban lived there from around 1900 till 1920, or later. His daughter, Eva Jane Alban, my grandmother, met & married Clarence Smith there. In researching the Clarence Smith family in the Muscotah and Effingham area I have ran across several Martins.I also know from George E. Martin's obituary that his folks, that is the Charles Henry Martin family, was living there in 1910.

Mary or Polly Alban who wed Thomas Edgington, probably about 1800, probably Adams Co Ohio or nearby

Thomas Edgington was born 1781, died 1855, son of Jesse Edgington and Margaret Palmer. Thomas and Mary had the following: Thomas Edgington (d: 1852, married Margaret Marshall); Margaret Edgington (b: 1803, d: 1872, married William Douglas); Jane Edgington (b: 1805, married James Marshall); Jesse Edgington (b: 1811 d: 1901 married Charlotte Koontz (b: 1812 d: 1889)); John Edgington (b: 1814 d: 1882, married Susanna Koontz (b: 1819)); George Washington Edgington (b: 1814	d: 1859, married Eliza Johnston); Mary Margaret Edgington (b: 1818 d: 1847, married James I. Reed (b: 1810	d: 1860)); Elizabeth Edgington	(b: 1819, married Harvey Henry Baldwin); William Edgington (b: 1820 d: 1875, married Abigail Meduke); Daniel Edgington	(b: 1828, married Casiah Igou (b: 1835)).

There is speculation that Mary was called Polly. There is also one school of thought holding that Mary/Polly did not wed Thomas, but instead was married to Jesse Edgington (1779-1866, son of Thomas Edgington and Martha (Patty) Swearingen; this Jesse is a first cousin to the Thomas 1781-1855 I THINK she married).

Sorry this is so convoluted! Any assistance, guidance, thoughts, would be greatly appreciated! I'm an Edgington descendant, and want to put Mary/Polly in her rightful place in my data. Thanks!

I am pretty sure this is the same as our Henry Alban. (Jack Alban, who posted here earlier, is my father.)

Some of the numbers don't match up exactly - but they're so close it has to be the same man. We have his death date as January 21, 1896 north of Westphalia, KS, and you have it as January 26 in Kansas. We have his birthdate as 10-2-1829 in NYC.

My ancestor, Charles Hamilton Alban, must have been the second or third son of Henry. He was born in 1858 in Bloomington, IL - or at least nearby in McLean County. The birthplace of William Frederick, Waynesville, is only about 25 miles away.

I don't know if Henry is related to Eliza, but Henry Alban is my earliest known paternal ancestor.

He was born October 2, 1829 in NYC. He died north of Westphalia, Kansas on January 21, 1896. His wife's first name was Elizabeth. His son was Charles Hamilton Alban, born 1858 in Bloomington, IL.

If you have any other information on Henry Alban, I'd LOVE to hear about it, particularly if it relates to his parents.
