The only thing that we found on Abijah was the civil war info we found on the website: Michigan in the Civil War. We figured he was born around 1834. No other info on him that we have been able to find.

Hi, I am trying to find out about my Alcott line. My great grand mother's name was Dorothy May Alcott Llanso b. 12/04/1906 in Weehawken, New Jersey. David Wallace Alcott was her father and was born in 1881 in Hudson, Columbia County, New York. Her mother was Maria Fleming Colville Born in 1883 in East Claverack, NY. Charles and George were supposed to be two of her brother's names, she also had an uncle Charlie. Is there any connection to your Alcott line? I cannot seem to get past David Wallace Alcott and would really like to find our relation to Louisa May Alcott as she is supposed to be a relation. Please, if anyone has anything that would help, I would greatly appreciate it. I would really like to connect this for my Alcott/Llanso family members. Another important bit of information about her is that her husband's name was Joaquín Jornet Llansó Born 09/14/1907 in Manila, Philippine Island. They Had three children, Martin, Tom and a duaghter who is still alive so I won't mention her name. She is the youngest though. As a side note if anyone has any information on the Wallace line that would be great too. David Wallace Alcott is supposed to be related to the Wallace family from Scotland and supposed to be related to William Wallace (Braveheart!). Thanks in advance.

Martin's Granddaughter

Hey there,

I am your grandfather Martin's first cousin, Judith - my
Dad was your great-grandmother Dorothy's brother, David Wallace Alcott II, born in Hoboken, NJ in 1907. Your g-grandmother shared Alcott family history with me to share with anyone who wanted it and you can email me, if you wish. If not, briefly, their great-grandfather was Chatsfield Alcott, brother of Amos Bronson Alcott, Louisa May's father, so we share the same Alcott ancestors as LMA. Their Dad (mine and Martin's grandfather)often told your g-grandmother, my Dad, their brothers George and Charlie about visits to LMA's home in MA when he was a very small child. As far as I know, there was never any animosity shown towards your g-grandfather, Joaquin. As a matter of fact, he was friends with my Dad, who brought him home one day to meet his family and your g-grandmother (my Dad's sister)fell in love and married your g-granddad. I guess my dad is responsible for it all. ;) We loved and respected your g-granddad. BTW - your great-grandmother's name is Dorothy Maria (pronounced Mariah), after her mother Maria Colville (my grandmother).

I am looking for Dorothy Alcott Llanso's genealogy information.
Dorothy was born December 4 1906 and died May 6 2003. Her father's name was David Wallace Alcott and her mother's name was Maria Fleming Colville. Dorothy married Joaquín Jornet Llansó. They had three children, Martin Paul Llansó, Thomas Harlan Llansó & Virginia "Petri" Llansó. My father is Thomas Joaquín Llansó, son of Martin Paul Llansó. My great grandmother, Dorothy is the one who put together a lot of the Alcott genealogy. My mother, Paris recalls receiving a copy of the family tree from her. She said it was very confusing lol. However she can not find it! Go figure, right lol. Anyway I would love to connect with other family members and exchange information. What are David Wallace Alcott's parents and grandparents names? If anyone has this information or any other information, it would be greatly appreciated!! I would love to share what I have or what I find in the future with you as well.

Meegan

He married Elizabeth Ziegler, had a son Theodore born in 1928. Elizabeth was previously married to a Mr. Calhoun and had two daughters Elizabeth and Mae. Any information would be very helpful.
Vivian Alcott

I have a Pleazy Alcott born to William W Alcott 1763-1857 and Ann Woodford Alcott 1773-1808. I don't have any siblings for her but I have not researched her very much either. She was possibly born in Columbiana County, OH. Nov 1, 1808 to Oct. 20, 1874. Married to Jacob Walter and buried in Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Clayton County IA. Children are Mary, James, Jacob, John, Sarah, Rebecca, Albert, Mathias, William and Joseph.

Sandi

Good morning
I am interested in the non-Alcott ancestry of Dorothy Alcott born 1909. Would you know if her ancestry includes Catharine DUTY and Richard RYAN. They may have married in New South Wales in August 1841. I am looking for evidence of the marriage.
Catherine was born Waterford IRL, about 1817. Richard born about 1807. Catherine was widowed twice. She married Thomas Walker in 1864, then Charles Gentry in 1870.

Thank you for the benefit of your research

"Amos Bronson Alcott" William A. Alcott" exactly how related?

I would like to know exactly how AMOS BRONSON ALCOTT, the philosopher, and "WILLIAM A. ALCOTT, the doctor, educator and author, are related. They are, I believe first cousins. William was the son Obid Alcott and Amos the son of Joseph C. Alcott. Who was the common ancestor?

Second question. In 1836 William A. Alcott married Phebe Lewis Bronson (1812-1907. Is she related to Amos Bronson Alcott?

Bill

I have a 145 pg. document of my version the decendents of William Allcott, Allcutt, Alcott who lived in N.J.1700's and than Pa. 1800-1930. Way too much to put all of it on this site. It is a "Word" document. This is the first pg.
If anyone wants more email me offsite.
Note:
The following 10 pgs. or so contain info I’m adding to this document as I can confirm it. Much confusion comes about researching a name spelled Allcutt, Allcott, Alcott etc. Jane Rebecca (Harvey) Allcutt signs her name, Allcutt, in Pension and Court documents while the recorders write Alcott, Allcott in the same documents. Her children sign all the variations. Her husband David signs an X. Jane is the Decendent of Quaker Lawyers and Plantation ownwers so I’ll go with Allcutt as the original spelling. Meanwhile Alcott would seem to be what we end up with in the end…….wllmbrandle@aol.com

Possible Line….
13.
Yet another Alcott connection

Hello:
I am trying to identify a connection between my family genealogy and that of Louisa May Alcott. I have been told all my life that she is related to us somehow. I just don't know how. I have a theory however. I am guessing it is through Anna Bronson.
I have several Bronsons in my genealogy. First, Harris Bronson, b. 1789; d. 14 Oct 1827; lived in Waterbury, CT and married Hannah Thompson in Copenhagen, NY. Then, his son Charles Hopkins Bronson, b. 1815 in Waterbury, CT and d. 29 July 1850 and married Emily Gale in Cleveland, OH. Then, his son, Charles Hopkins Bronson, b. 11 Sep 1845, d. 22 April 1914 and married Grace Darling Ransom. Then, his son Charles Winslow Bronson b. 13 July 1882 in Covington, Kentucky.
If anyone has an idea of how these people might connect to Anna Bronson and/or Bronson Alcott (and Louisa May Alcott), I would very much appreciate the help.

Thanks!
Sincerely,
Louisa

Was your great grandmother's married name Radwill? If so, she was a cousin of my father Joseph Bell. He was the son of Helen Alcott and the grandson of Joseph Alcott and Bertha Skinner Alcott.

I google family names every once in a while to see if there is any new genealogy information on line. I recently googled my g grandmother, Bertha Miriam Skinner, and hit the jackpot on information on the Alcott side of the family. I found that a Haroldine Tandy, a daughter of Harold Alcott, had done a lot of research and had the family traced back to England. It is all there on the internet. You might find it interesting.

Let me know if they are your Alcotts too.

I know there was an "Alcott-Beauman" in Hatfield, Montgomery county, PA, 1930.
I think, though, that he was an Alcott turning into a Beauman/Bouman.? Don't know the reason.
He was William John Alcott, son of David Richard and Laura Alcott. He was probably born in Philadelphia around 1894. He was on the 1900 census in Phila. with David and Laura; on the 1910 in Delaware county, PA with David and Laura and 1920 Montgomery County, PA, Hatfield with David and stepmother Elizabeth Frankenfeld; Laura must be deceased. By 1930 he has married and is living on his own but he's now "Alcott-Beauman"
I heard that William was actually an adopted son of David. I'm not sure if that's accurate.
I have notes on the Alcott/Alcutt family; William J's father David was a brother to my great grandmother; they were both children of John Alcott/Alcutt and his wife Elizabeth Jordan Alcutt.
my email is kathleen.dowe@gmail.com

Philip Alcock's Children

Dawn,
The info in my previous email regarding Philip Alcock's daughter's birthyear was incorrect. I meant to put the year ~1655 as birthyear. She probably married ~1675 or so. Also, the man she may have married is Henry Gray, Jr (1653-1731) from Fairfield, CT. We believe the Alcock's daughter was his first wife and she died ~1699 after giving birth to six children with Henry. Can you help in our search for answers? pamillertime@cox.net. Thanks. Pat

Dawn,
I am assisting the mother of a friend who is conducting genealogy research on the Gray ancestral line. She has traced theat line back to the earliest settlers of Fairfield, CT in 1638. We believe that Henrey Gray, Jr. may have married the daughter of Philip and Elizabth Alcock. Do you have any information about a daughter named Elizabeth who would have been born ~ 1675 who may have married Henry Gray? I'm at pamillertime@cox.net. Thanks.
Pat

Bowman or Bouman turning into Alcott in Eastern Pennsylvania

Anyone out there that has information on a guy who changed his name to Alcott in the 1930's from supposedly Bowman or Bouman to Alcott because that was the last name of the family of the farm that he moved into.
