My name is Sandra Anderson (mother was Rosa Lea (Alderman) Allen) I found your posting while attempting to put together a family tree. I, like you, have very little information on the Alderman side of the family. I will discuss this with you if I find you are related. I hope so as I know no one from my mothers side of my family. My sister is mailing all my mothers photos and birth certificate and ss info which I will post to you. I only know that my mothers sisters nick name was "coot" and do not know the given name. Please contact me at sandi46@verizon.net I am in Fountain Valley, California and would love to hear from my moms family. She passed in January 2006 so we only have her pictures to use as reference. She never spoke of the father or siblings. Thanks so much, Sandi

David J. Alderman was married to Julia Anna Maria Zipperer daughter of Solomon Zipperer. David James is the son of George Alderman and Nancy Carlton. David James died during the war for southern independence on 24th November 1862 at General Receiving Hospital also known as Charity Hospital, Gordonsville, VA. He was in the 8th regiment CO G. A webside called "Footnotes" has original documents that can be printed out. There are about 16 documents for David James and included one from the Confederate States of America for the Tresury Department naming Julia as his widow and owed money. During my research on the 1860 census for Hamilton County, FL city of Jasper he is listed as James with wife Julia children William, Solomon, and Susan. His widow married William P. Nobles and the 1870 census shows her in Live Oak, Suwanee, FL showing these children but not with the last name of Alderman.

Re: David J. Alderman

Information I had received from a cousin is David James Alderman b. 24 June 1836 married Julia Ann Maria Zipperer
b. 5 Sept 1835 on 24 Dec 1856. He was a farmer near Jasper, FL and died on December 2, 1862. Children born to this union were William M. Alderman b. 1857 m. Mary Castelline Barnes b. 1857, James Solomon Alderman b. 1858 m. Ruth Elizabeth Long, Susan Angelin Alderman b. 1860 m. James William Harper, Francis Perry and Nancy Elizabeth Shilo Alderman both born 1862 (twins ?). I know most records show David James married to Julia's sister Fannie, however census records for Elizabeth Zipperer (widow of Solomon) 1860 Suwanee County Census show Fannie is 17 at this time and lives with her mother. I would think it would be unlikely that two sisters would each be married to men with the same name. Would like to correspond with people from this family.

His daughter, Virginia Alderman is my great gramdmother. Are their many Aldermans left in SW Virginia? I would be interested in hosting a Jacob Alderman descendents reunion at my retreat center in Keystone, WV, about 35 min. from Bluefield. Where do you live? Check out fairhavenranch.com for location details. Joyce
P>S> I need help in selecting dates. Do you know many Aldermans? I know a son of John Perry Alderman lives in Galax area, I think anyway. He was the authority on Aldermans in Carroll Co. VA.

checked my file just to be sure. Jacob arrived in US after Revolutionary War. Note from file: "Jacob arrived in the US on the Patsey Rutledge in 1787(9) to Philadelphia, PA (Jan 10, 1789 possible arrival date). He was about 17 years old. Patsy Rutledge info supposedly from Penna. German Pioneers, II, P. 34). Upon arrival he made his way to the Moravian Settlement at Old Salem, NC. He learned the weavers trade and blacksmithing. He may have arrived w/a brother, Henry. Moved to Burks Fork, VA in 1801. He owned 427 acres on Burks Fork when he died in 1824. One or two acres is reserved by John Owen Alderman on the farm where Jacob and an infant son are buried. (information from Alderman forum on FTM)" ... hope this is helpful.

I am looking for relatives of Churchwell Jones Alderman who married Charlotte Morris of Parker City, OH. Her sister was Eunice Morris, daughters of Zacharia Morris, I think. Charlotte's first daughter was Virginia Alderman, my great grandmother. Eunice Morris was mother of Jessie Mason Watson. We met her son Richard Watson, who visited Virginia's daughter in Fla in l975. Jessie Mason had her 100th birthday in l982, and her daughter was Dorothy Clemens. I am trying to locate these relatives and descendents from Ohio, since we are cousins.Hershbergers are from near Parker City. I can't find them. Dorothy may have lived in Fla. Are there any relatives out there? Joyce Boring

I am descended from George and Thursa Dunn Alderman by their son Churchwell Jones Alderman who married Charlotte Morris, and their first daughter Virginia Alderman is my great grandmother. Is their an Alderman family reunion anywhere, descendents of Jacob Alterman, and Rosanna Fadenland? Virginia's first child was Anna Pearl Leonard which is my grandmother. Did Jacob contribute to the American Revolution? I have recently joined DAR and would like help on this line. Thanks. Joyce

I may be a grandson to Clement Waddle because my mother's maiden name was Waddle and she was born in Provost Alberta, around 1920. Her name was Amanda Waddle, and she married Leslie Hancock of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan in 1956.

Hi again

In your first post you mentioned that Frederick was married to Charlotte so I first checked the census to get a rough idea when they might have married, the only Frederick ALDERMAN that married a Charlotte within a few years of the birth of their first child was Charlotte Simmonds. Of course this is only a guide you will need to purchase a marriage certificate to confirm this unless you have any other information to confirm it.

Good Luck with your research.

Su

Hello

I think you should have posted on general board or one that covers London. All the same I did a little delving and found Frederick Charles Alderman married Charlotte Simmonds 1875. 1891 Census- Frederick and Charlotte were living in Camberwell with several children one being Emily born about 1883.
I dont know if this will be of much help but possibly gives you something to work on.

Su

Re: SOLOMAN ALDERMAN DECENDENTS

My name is Dorohy Sue Alderman Orr and am a novice at this research. I believe Solomon Alderman was my great grandfather. The Solomon I am referring to was born in Carroll Co. Virginia about 1844. His father was James, son of John, son of Jacob. According to the 1900 census, Stewarts Creek, Surry Co. N.C., his wife was Susanna (Keyes?) and their children were Ballard P., James Albert (Elbert) my grandfather, Eli Silvester, Nancy L., Walter Cable, William Noah and Sarah Adaline. I can't find a mention of Cana Luther on any of the earlier census reports. Other children mentioned were Rosietta (I think she died in 1893 from typhoid and Henry K. (Kinney) Source Pine Creek District, Carroll Co. VA. There is also an Ody listed as daughter. (Could be a nickname for Nancy.)Would you share your source data? We are having a family reunion at the Riverhill Christian Church, Riverhill Community near Galax, Virginia, Carroll County--May 24, 2008 at noon.
