Harrisburg - Hamad “Hummie” Aleck, 54, of Harrisburg, died Friday in Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Harrisburg, where he grew up and attended high school.
He served in the Army during the Korean War, then returned to Harrisburg.
He married Ann Bickett on April 9, 1958, in Beresford. He worked as a truck driver for Nash Finch Co. from 1956 to November 1966, when he retired because of ill health.
He was a member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church and American Legion in Harrisburg.
Survivors include his wife: one son, Charles H., Harrisburg, two daughters: Jacqueline L. Aleck, Sioux Falls; and Mrs. Rahim (Janet) Salimi, Houston: six grandchildren: three brothers, Joseph, Harlingen, Texas; Ollie, Sioux falls; and Acie, Milica, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Ed (Miriam) Krueger, Harrisburg.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday in Harrisburg United Methodist Church, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon today in George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
