Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on November 6, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Cecelia D. (Jeroskie) Kurty. She worked at Erie Resistor during World War II. Her favorite saying was: “God will provide” and He always did whether it was spending time with family or friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren in Maryland. Her husband, Walter “Ladislaus” J. Alexa, preceded her in death, along with a brother, Walter Kurty and his wife Florence. Survivors include four sons, Michael Alexa, wife Betty, of Erie,
Martin Alexa, wife Kerry, of Silvers Springs, Md.,
Matthew Alexa, of Erie,
and Mark Alexa, wife Susan Moyer, of Erie;
grandchildren Brian and Claire Alexa; step-grandchildren, Alex and Sam Moyer and many nieces and nephews.
Re: Finding Roots

I am researching my husband's family. His great-grandfather was Joseph Alexis (Aleksa or Alexsis). He was from Lithuania and was born in 1866. He married Anna Rupeika (Ruperkaite, Rupeikute) born 1877 in Suvalkai, Lithuania. They married in 1903 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, USA and had 6 or 7 children. Anna emigrated to the US in 1899. There is no record of any of her family that I can find. Joseph worked in a coal mine in the Pittston Area. He died in 1915. Anna died in 1970. Any information you may have would be appreciated.
