All I know for a certainty is that many of my branches of the Alexander's ended up in Maryland and then in Philadelphia, PA. Originally they came from Flat Creek, Mecklenberg, Virginia. Certain names like, Louisa, Hilliard, James and Samuel keep coming up.. but I do not know anything about their connection we me, other than they related somehow. Also, I know that Raymond Pace Alexander, an early twentieth century Philadelphia lawyer, and Sadie Tanner-Mossell Alexander, one of the first black female judges in the country, were distant cousins of mine. The early records of my branch were identified racially as being mulatto. My late grandfather said that Ferry Alexander, my great great grandfather was part Native American. My great grandmother, Lydia, Ferry (Frederick?) daughter, married my great grandfather, Daniel "Buck" Pritchett (my mother, Alberta's, grandparents).
