Hi there,

I am descended from the Thomas Bowen of Gelly or Gelli farm in Llandebie/ Llandybie. He was born in 1772 and was living at Gellyfrynon as Head of Household from 1841 till he passed in the 1860's. The original name was Gellyfrynon Farm. Even that was a shortening of an earlier longer version. It is now a kennel from what I gather.

Thomas Bowen possibly married an Ann Basset who appears to have been 12 or thirteen when she married. Thomas Bowen had a daughter Elizabeth in 1806/07 who married a David Rees of the Corner House Inn in Llandybie beside the Red Lion Inn which is still there. The Rees family seem to have been involved in other locations of the Red Lion and affiliated Inns in Wales with the same names and appearances, all with connections to the name Rees. Also they are tied to places such as Tynwy which are close to Gelly Farm.
