Just came across your message on the Alfs from Cincinnati.
John George Alf married Anna Maria Bechtel 11/25/1862 in St Paul Church in Cincinnati. John died 1885 and Anna 1906..

I have a Maria Alf who was a witness to a family marriage at St. Joseph's in 1868 in Cincinnati. Other names listed are Streicker, Baumer, Moorman, Wilberding, Wiegel and Otten. Any relationship to any of these surnames.

He had a sister (only, 1, I believe) named, Winnifred and several brothers, but I have only 2 names, Raymond and John Wilfred Alf.

Have a little information on an Anna Alf from Rottweil Germany, Wurttenberg. She lived in Etna, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh)in 1891-1935. Alf was her maiden name. She married there and had 8 children.

Sorry the Anna Alf we knew of was married to a Michels and lived in Etna, Pa. in early 1900's. Her children had no offsprings that we can find. Only one daughter at this time have we not found. Anna had 8 children, but no grandchildren.

Alfred Emmanuel ALF...

Alfred Emmanuel Alf was my maternal grandfather. He was full-blooded Swedish, born and raised in Canton, China. His mother and father were missionaries from Sweden. Alfred came to America when he was 20 years old. My mother, Karen Ruth (nee-Alf), is the first generation-Alf born to the US (in my family history) May 9, 1938.
Alfred married my grandmother, Ruth Joselle (nee-Walker, b. Oct 31, appx 1904). Her father was I.N. Walker (I.N. stands for nothing-his sister was C.B.) and her mother was Anna (nee Linden) Walker.
I don't know the names of Alfred's parents. I think his father's name was also Alfred...not sure.
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

Alf(t), Germany to Wisconsin

Hi, James. My great great grandmother was Veronica Alft. Family records state that she was born in Bonn, Germany in 1825, that her father was Michael Alft, and her mother was Peta Anella "Nellie" DeWald.

A researcher recently discovered ships records that add the following:

Michel Alf and family arrived in New York on 20 Jul. 1846 aboard the "Edwina". The came from Nohn, Prussia. Michel's wife was Petronelle Dewald Alf, and their children were Anne Christine, Vronike, Jean Michel, and Nicholos.

I don't know whether the "real" family name was Alft or Alf. Perhaps we have a connection.
