I am trying to discover the hometown in Italy of my great grandparents, Pasquale Alfano (14 Mar 1868 -21 Jan 1923) and Filomena Funicello Alfano (Apr 1867 - 14 Jun 1936), and the names of Pasquale's siblings and parents. They had 5 children: Peter (24 Apr 1883 - 15 May 1948), Carmine (17 May 1885 - 21 Mar 1957), Lester (Lazarro)(8 Aug 1890 - 5 Jun 1940), Angeline Tescione (20 Nov 1892 - 6 Aug 1981) and Joseph (19 Mar 1895 - 11 Jul 1963. My great grandparents and the 3 oldest children arrived in the US on 11 Sep 1891. Based on info in census records, there's reason to believe that Pasquale arrived about 5 years earlier and later returned to Italy to accompany his family. By 1900, the family lived in Utica, NY. They initially lived somewhere else in NY, possibly Saratoga Springs, where Joseph was born. I have no information about Pasquale's parents and siblings and whether any of them immigrated to the USA. Filomena had a sister, Mary Funicello Fogus (abt 1857 - 8 Sep 1927). Mary died at her sister's home, where she had been living. She was apparently the widow of Joseph Fogus. Mary's obituary identifies Martino and Rosario in Italy as surviving brothers. Mary's death record identifes her parents as Joseph Funicello and Angelina Durranta. The family was probably from the Province of Salerno. There is no reliable or consistent information on the home town of my great grandparents and their Italy born children. Birth towns mentioned in a few obituaries and death records do not exist. Pasquale is identified as Charles on census records.
