Hello, My name is Gema Alfaro,I am from Spain (Europe) and I live in Albacete, my brother has been doing some research, and I can tell completely sure, that the origin of this surname is in an small village called "Peñas de San Pedro" in Albacete (Spain).
We have found documents or our family (real old documents) and that´s why we know that the firs person to take the Alfaro surname appears in 1620, and I can assure that is a member of my family.
As well I can assure that this is surname doesn´t mean "shoemake", I am Spanish so I know very well what I´m telling, and this surname it ísn´t jewish.

If anyone wants more information or have a look at the documents, tell me
