Apparently there is a big mystery in the Alfonso family, at least my husband's Alfonso family. If anyone has heard of any of these people, please e-mail. Thanks. JOSE CRUZ Alfonso born May 3, 1909 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, died about 1948; JOSE Alfonso born June 14, 1864 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, died before 1930; ABELARDO Alfonso, supposedly born in Spain; HIGINIA DURAN (O DURANT), mother of JOSE CRUZ Alfonso, born 1878 in Mayaguez, still alive in 1930 according to the U.S. Census, now dead; JERONIMO DURAN (O DURANT), father of HIGINIA DURAN.
The story goes that when JOSE CRUZ Alfonso married my husband's grandmother, PALMIRA VINCENTY, he was disowned by his family. Apparently the Alfonso family and the Vincenty family were not of the same political opinion. And that's all we know about the Alfonso family.
