My maiden name is alfonso....i was told growing up i am italian but my husband visited spain when in the usmc and said there was a Alfonso park there..Looking through the pages on this site seems to be alfonso is more spanish then italian...Help ...ITalian or spanish?

My great grandmother's name was Rosa Maria Alfonso. She lived on Havana Street in Havana Cuba. She married a man with the last name of Kimball and the family moved to Mobile Alabama. She had 2 children. Rose and Frank Kimball. Rose later resided in Pensacola Florida and Frank moved to Oregon or Washington. If you have any info on Rosa. The name of Wells is also significant but I don't know if this was Rosa's Mother's maiden name.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Carlo E. Alfonso, 23, of Spokane, Wash., died on Aug. 26 of injuries sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Sadr City, Iraq. He was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.

Alfonso - New Orleans

I am researching the Alfonso family from New Orleans. Ignacio Alfonso was born in Cuba in February 1865. He migrated to New Orleans in 1883 and married Marie Caroline DELBERT on 21 October 1891. They had seven children, but not all survived to adulthood. Of those who survived, Hector Anthony (Tony) Alfonso, born April 2 1896 served with the USAAF in England and died there on November 6 1943. Achilles Alfonso, born July 27 1897 died in June 9 1945. Achilles was married to Carmen (Bellini) Alfonso who died December 23 2001. They had a daughter Magda Alfonso. Any information on this family, in particular Tony (Hector), would be welcome.

Apparently there is a big mystery in the Alfonso family, at least my husband's Alfonso family. If anyone has heard of any of these people, please e-mail. Thanks. JOSE CRUZ ALFONSO born May 3, 1909 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, died about 1948; JOSE ALFONSO born June 14, 1864 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, died before 1930; ABELARDO ALFONSO, supposedly born in Spain; HIGINIA DURAN (O DURANT), mother of JOSE CRUZ ALFONSO, born 1878 in Mayaguez, still alive in 1930 according to the U.S. Census, now dead; JERONIMO DURAN (O DURANT), father of HIGINIA DURAN.

The story goes that when JOSE CRUZ ALFONSO married my husband's grandmother, PALMIRA VINCENTY, he was disowned by his family. Apparently the Alfonso family and the Vincenty family were not of the same political opinion. And that's all we know about the Alfonso family.

Looking for information on the Alfonso family of Havana, Cuba. My gg-grandfather was Pedro Joaquin Alfonso y de la Torre. He married Maria Loreto de la Cuesta y Valdes. Pedro's parents were Pedro Alfonso y Paredes and Rosario de la Torre y Alfonso. Pedro Joaquin and Maria Loreto had at least 7 children: Jose Antonio (d. 1919), Rosa (1873-1953), Lucrecia Maria (b. 1881), Esther (b. 1886), Carlos Manuel (1890-1917), Maria Teresa (1893-1983), and Raul (1894-1950).

I'm looking for any info on John Alfonso or Mary Amoruso who lived in Campobasso Province Italy. These are my grandfathers
parents, His name is Louis, sisters Christine, Rose and Maigual. His uncle was
also John Alfonso. My grandfather changed the spelling of his surname when he came to the US. He gave his nephew, surname Lanni,
the property and winery located in Campobasso in the 1960. Any info would be wonderful.

My great-grandfather was born in Spain. He took his family to Cuba in the early or mid 1800's, where my grandfather was born. My father's oldest brother and sister were born in Cuba. They then came to the United States and settled in Keywest, Florida. I would like to know more about my father family. Both my father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all named Benito Joseph Alfonso.

Louisiana Alfonso, Alphonse, D'Alphonse

In St. Bernard and New Orleans there appears to have been Alfonsos since at least the early ninteen century. If anyone knows anything about them I'd love to hear it. I suspect they are either Portugese, Spanish or Italian, and that their names shifted towards French versions the longer they were around, hence developing in some instances to D'Alphonse.

In particular I'm looking for Josephine D'Alphonse, born early to mid ninteenth century, married a Francois Monfort/ Montfaucon/ Montfalen probably in the 1850s. Moved to Mexico during the French occupation under Maximilian, then to Galveston where she married Joseph Kubbler/ Kipler. 1880 US census has both her parents born in LA.

I'm searching for a David Alfonso, about 25 to 30 years old, hes a cousin and my grandfathers health is bad and he wishes to try to find this grandson in hopes he may see him one more time before he passes, the child was taken from his mother at the age of about 7 with good reason, but his father never made contact with any of his other family members and so we don't know where to locate the child............His father's name is David as well the mother was Doris Hall (VanDyke)...........last we knew he lived in NC with an aunt..........David if your out there please contact me...........I promise I won't have you do anything you wish not to but granddad would love to see you if not maybe a phone call......................Please Cheryl
