Hi we have a family tree that starts with a Giaeomo Algeo born 1420 died 1489. He arrived in Scotland sometime after the year 1453, in the train of the Bishop of Paisley. The tree is quite complete for our line after this period, but as he was out of Rome it is possible that records exist prior to this time.I plan to follow this up through the Vatican I tried a search and found this site, there maybe someone out there who already knows. Or failing that someone who would find our details interesting.
My great grandfather John Algie emigrated to New Zealand on the Wave Queen in 1862 from Paisley in Scotland.
The name changed in the 16th century from Algeo to Algie.
Would be very interested in hearing from somebody with any information at all.
Regards
Ken Algie
