I have a letter in french date April 12, 1803 at Baton Rouge, La. from Pierre Allain writing to an Armand about various family incidents. One note is of his brother in law, Alexandre Patin who had recently died. Another is the marriage of his sister Manette Allain to Mon. Dubroca. Also speaks of Mme. Hortena? Vahamonde and going to New Orleans for Bordeaux wine. If anyone is interested and can maybe translate the text please send me an email and I can forward you a clear scan of the letter.

I am looking for info on the family of Joseph Francois Allain married to Catherine Huard in 1776 and Isabelle Bergeron in 1795. They settled in Paspebiac, Quebec. My line is connected to Francois's son from his second marriage to Isabelle - Andre Allain married to Magdeleine Doucet in 1834, Cecile Bourque in 1858, and Suzanne Normandeau in 1874. Andre settled in Petit Rocher, New Brunswick. I am trying to find the line above Joseph Francois Allain - his father. I have a possibility of the name Gilles Allain dit Briere, then Jean Baptiste Briere, but I have no source for this. I am trying to see if there is a connection to my Allain's to the Louis Allain married to Marguerite Bourg who came from France.

My Father's father (my grandfather) moved to Guernsey from Brittany. He joined the Navy and was substantially rich owning several properties in Guernsey. His mother Granny Allain lived and owned One Terrace The Grange. She died some time ago. My father is Nigel and has two brothers and two sisters. I am searching for anybody who is related to his father or brothers??? He married Dorothy who also joined the Navy......I have a sister Karen. Unfortunately, I don't know his hame but I believe he also owned Jamaica Inn and several houses in Cornet Street.

I am looking for information on Sophie Allain. I don't know who her parents were or when she was born. But, she was more than likely born in Canada, New Brunswick or Quebec, I think. I do know she married William Bernard and they had a daughter, Marie Bernard who married Paul Furlotte. Paul was born in 1856. Marie had a son named Alfred Stephen Furlotte, who moved to Maine from New Brunswick. Alfred was born in 1882.

My branch of the Allain family moved to Maine, USA early in the 20th
century from New Brunswick. My line is:
Marc son of
Joseph (born in Sanford, Maine) son of
Elias (born in New Brunswick) son of

While I have good records of the family tree from Elie and his wife,
Clothilde Leblanc, I have little information on the wives and families

We need the help of ALLAIN descendants. We have hit a brick in our research for Cecelia ALLAIN, born about 1830, in Quebec (?), Canada. We believe she has Acadian roots.

Cecelia married Alphonse Boudreau in 1851, in Will County, Illinois. They had four children in St. Anne, Illinois. So, we are looking for ALLAINS with the St. Anne connection. The ALLAINS must of migrated to the St. Anne area before 1851.

My family is currently living in the Boutouche area of NB, however they were born in St marie de Kent. His name is Joseph Desire Allain. He has brothers are named; Gerard, Bernard, Laurie, and LeoPaul. Sisters named Imelda, Jeannette, and Doris. Mother's name is Lydia Lecouter. Father was Aurele. Lydia was remarried to another Allain, however I am not sure of his name. A maternal grandmother was named Emily Arsenault. That is as far back as I know. Any help would be greatly aooreciated. Was recently in Bouctouche and amazed at how many gravestones were of Allains or LeBlancs. it was impossible to trace any of my mother's family (Suzanne Allain).

My mothr's family moved to New Bedford in 1909. She had
7 brothers: Clement, Edmond, Alyre, Michel, Donat, Alexis, Wilfred. Her father's name was Dominique (Miki) and her mother was Milienne LeBlanc.

Does anyone know of this family while they lived in New Bedford Mass? Any information would be appreciated; i.e.,
when relocating in Mass. was it a difficult adjustment or were there many in the community of Acadian decent? What were the living conditions in Buctouche in the early 1900's?

Buctouche and surrounding areas was very beautiful and it was surprising how much of the Acadian culture has survived .

Allain in the Caribbean

My grandfather, Charles Allain, of St. Lucia, was born in Venezuela around 1900. His mother (name unknown) brought him and 2 or three siblings to St. Lucia as children. As an adult, he always told my mom that he came to St. Lucia to work to repay his own father's debts in Venezuela; he had a sister named Leone or Leonid who came to New York in the 50's to work. She had a daughter named Highlander (spelling uncertain) who would be in her early 50's now. We can't even find her. Charles Allain and his siblings (and their offspring) are the only Allain's we have met. Does anyone know anything about direct relatives?

One of his daughters Angelina "Angeline" ALLAIN b. 30 July 1862 in Illinois (according to 1900 Fed Census) married Herbert Martin LONGBOTTOM and they had 4 known children. Attended a wonderful reunion picnic recently in Portland, Oregon of my Sweany-connected cousins, aunts and uncles. Elderly uncle Charles Sweany's wife (deceased) was apparently Evelyn Mary (Allain) Sweany, daughter of Lucille Elizabeth Boesel and Alexander James Allain.

Baby Evelyn (my aunt) was born 09/05/1922. Evelyn married Charles Sweany, operatic tenor in Portland. When I find out more details I will post an addendum.

I only found this message board tonight so this is a very delayed message which I hope you get. My grandmother was Ruth Allain (born Dec 12, 1898 in Unity Wisconsin) a daughter of Charles Allain who was born somewhere in France on Aug 25, 1846. Ruth married George Baudry and had 5 children: Georgene, Alden, Le Roy, Berniece and Rose Mary. My father is Alden. My grandmother Ruth lived on a farm outside of Eden, WI. Aunt Cora and Uncle Charles came to live with her at some point and helped raise the kids and farm the dairy farm. Aunt Cora, Uncle Charles and Grandma Ruth all died while I was in grade school.Grandma Ruth died in 1966. I remember meeting Aunt Anna and Aunt Stella and Uncle Ted as a child. I am looking for Patrick Allain formerly of Toronto,Ontario, Canada.
He had two brothers John and Jimmy(I think)
They resided at one time in the early 70's on Northhumberland Street in the Bloor/Ossington area
and Antler Ave in the Landsdowne/Dupont area.
In 1970 or 1971 he attended JJ McGrand JHS at Bloor and Dufferin.
