Hello, I recently came across this message on the internet. My name is Olivine Allaire and my Grandfather was Etienne Allaire. I have a cousin whose Grandfather was Philias Allaire. Our two Grandfathers were brothers, and they had a brother by the name of Jean Baptiste who died in Oregon. We have a picture of him and some art work. I think we are from the same family. If interested please email me at molly38911@aol.com and place Jean Baptise in the title that I would see. Good luck with your hunt.
ALLAIRE Family Bible - Mostly NY Names

My half Aunt's mother was an Allaire and she has an Allaire Family Bible with quite a few names. She allowed me to copy the family pages. The presentation page of the Bible reads: "Presented to Margaretta E. Allaire by her affectionate husband Robert E. Allaire. 25 December 1851"

Apparently Margaretta's maiden name was also Allaire because there is a newspaper clipping pasted on marriage page "On Tuesday, 22nd inst. by the Rev. Joseph H. Price, Robert H. Allaire to Margaret Elizabeth, second daughter of Saml. Y. Allaire, Esq., dec'd, all of this city." handwriten further down on the page is the year of marriage "1847 ... NY" The children of the above are: Joseph, Margaret, Henry, Ferdinand, Marie Antoinette, Robert, Jeremiah, Nicholas and 2 or 3 more that are unreadable with their dates of birth etc.

I would be glad to share by email but the scanned pages I have are probably to large to attach here.

What is the DOB of this individual - Napoleon Bissonnette? If his DOB is 2/6/1842, he may be my great grandfather and this could have possibly been his first marriage. My ggrandfather Napoleon married Mary Rose LaPalme after 1870 so, I am understandably curious. I would appreciate any help on this one......you can reply to this post or you can e-mail the information to me at iaclnc@gmail.com I would be glad to share my info with you.

Thanks

Cheryl A.

I have a marriage between Raoul ALLAIRE and Eva NERON on 24 April 1929 in Jonquière, Quebec, Canada. The source is Clement Bergeron, Repertoire des mariages du Saguenay & Lac-Saint-Jean, (November 2000), "Electronic." I believe I exchanged emails with Clement because Raoul's parents are Thomas ALLAIRE and Rosanna CHALIFOUX. Rosanna is dau. of Elie CHALIFOUX and Aveline GAGNON. Elie is brother to the Louis CHALIFOUX (m'ed to Exilda VEGIARD/VIGIARD) which I have been researching since 1997. I'm still trying to verify the link to the original Paul CHALIFOU who came to New France in the 1640s.

Help Identifying Old Photographs

Hello!
I recently was given two photo albums that belonged to my Seward family. I'm guessing the pictures are from the mid 1880s through the turn of the century. They lived in Goshen and also in Chester, New Jersey. However, I can't identify any of them. Surnames who married into my Seward line around this time period are:
Cooper
Allaire
Rockwell
Haines
Green
Peirce
You can find the pictures here: http://millergenealogy.googlepages.com/photoalbum

Please send me an email if you recognize anyone!
Thanks!
--Brian--

Chances are your Ubald had several names given at his baptism. Perhaps he changed it to one of his other names. For example, one of mine was Joseph Ubald Charles and changed to Charles later in life. If you learn enough to find his baptismal record it would help.

Regards,
Sharyn

Lillian is not in my direct line, so I only have sketchy information. The 1880 census (NYC enumeration district 660, page no. 4D) shows her (Lilie) to be the 3 y/o twin daughter of Joseph and Caroline Lynch. Her sister's name was Fanny.

The 1850 census for the Newark North Ward, Essex Co., N.J., shows Joseph as the 7 y/o son of Derrick Lynch and his wife Julia. Derrick was a tin and stove merchant in Newark. His wife was Julia Aubrey. Although I haven't been able to determine the exact relation, they lived next door to a candy maker, Charles Aubrey, an immigrant from France.

I don't know if this helps, or if it is your Lilian Lynch, but if there is a connection, I would enjoy hearing about it.

Does anyone have the birth/death dates for Apollinaire
Allaire/Dallaire? I have him born in 1851 and dying betweed 1894-1901. He was the son of Romain and Esther Lapierre. I found his widow's name Desanges (Blais) in the 1901 census living with her 7 children; Helmina (Elmina), Lesiana (Louisianna), Cleophee, Cirinus (male), Adervil (male), Alice and Ernest. They lived in St. Samuel, Beauce.
I am also intersted in the 2 males, Cirinus and Adervil. Are these names spelled correctly? What happened to them? I cannot find them in the 1911 census or any following US censuses.
If you can help, let me know. Rick Peters

Re: Allard or Allaire family, Champlain, Clinton county, NY

I think it is possible that your Antoine Allard (born about 1816) is a brother or relative of my ancestor Olivier (also called Levi) Allard of Champlain. Olivier, was born about 1804. He married first Marguerite Guilbault, October 20 1823 at St. Michel, Yamaska, Quebec. He married second, Olive Langevin, December 4, 1845 at St. Joseph's, Cooperville, Champlain, New York. This marriage record shows his parents to be Jean-Baptiste Allard and Marie-Agathe Bonenfant. They were married January 21, 1799 at St. Michel, Yamaska. Because of this Cooperville marriage record, I have been able to connect my Champlain county Allards with the Yamaska, Quebec Allards. I think it is likely that the Champlain Allards are related (Benjamin, born about 1805, and Basile, born about 1816) but I have yet to determine how.

I have Antoine as married to Rosa. Children include Antoine Jr., born abt 1840, married Philomene Cahier; Narcisse, born abt 1841; Jean-Baptiste, born abt 1844, married Marie Charbonneau; Josephina, born abt 1847; Harriett, born abt 1849; Ellen, born abt 1858; and Fre???, born abt 1860. Is this consistent with what you have? Can you add anything?

Priscilla

My research interest is in the Lynch family. I have no additional information on the roots of Henry Allaire. The 1900 census for Manhattan New York (NARA film T623-1109, ED 634) suggests that Lillian was Henry's second wife:

Allaire, Hen__, head, 48 y/o book keeper born July 1851 in New Jersey, married 3 years.

Lillian, wife, 24 y/o born July 1875 in New York, married 3 years, 5 children, 5 living (this is misleading, all are not her children).

Lillian A., daughter, 2 y/o born Sept 1897 in New York
Arthur C., son, 3 month old born Nov 1899 in New York

Charles M., son, 19 y/o bank clerk, born Jun 1881 in New York
Harry L., son 16 y/o clerk, born Dec 1884 (should be 1883) in New York
Frank E., son 15 y/o, at school, born Sep 1884 in New York

This family lived in an apartment at 503 147th Street.

The next family on this census, living at 575 147th Street, is that of Samuel and Carrie Lynch, Lillian Allaire's parents.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Antoine Allaire, Champlain, Clinton county, NY

My great great grandfather was Antoine Allaire - born in upper Canada (Ontario) in 1816, moved to Champlain NY where my great grandfather Jean Baptiste Allaire was born (he later went by John B). Antoine's wife was Larose according to the 1870 census from Massachusetts, Hampshire County, Hatfield. Sounds like the same family but I don't have anything beyond Antoine - he later went by Anthony Allaire. The spelling was Allaire in all the papers that I have come across. How do you fit into this family.

My great grandfather was Joseph Simon Allaire of Big Sandy Texas. In fact I have his last name as my middle name and I intend to name my son Simon. He retired from Humble Oil (now ExxonMobil). He also raised my father, Joseph Thomas Barber. One of his daughter's, Mary, married my grandfather Raymond Barber. Joseph Simon Allaire was known and is still known by his family as "Dad". Please send me an e-mail and I can give you more information, besides, I would like to know what you've found so far. I can be reached at joseph.a.barber@exxonmobil.com.

P.S. He was from PA.

Re: Cecile Allaire

Mr. Allaire:

Here are two possibilities for your Cecile Allaire:

Cecil Regina Dallaire of Felix/Amanda Coulombe
Married Aug. 21, 1940, St Louis de France, Montreal
Joseph Lucien Antonio Bergeron of Luc/Marie Jcaques

or,

Cecile Allaire of Ovide/Marie Anne Trottier
Married July 4, 1953, St. Tite, Champlain County
Martin Belisle of Donat/Albertine Bordeleau

Now, with the information you gave, I cannot decide between those two, if either. If you also can't, give the names of the mechanic his brothers and sister, her father's name who died at 59, and any other name you can give. The more names, the better.

This information came from the American French Genealogical Society. A copy of the 1940 marriage act is available, details at http://www.afgs.org
