Hello again,
Looking closer I have figured that if your George infact married "Augusta Heth" ... we may not be from the same people AND POSSIBLY that my John Allanson and Elizabeth Sterling (who I KNOW are my family with out a doubt)are NOT your George Allanson's parents. And your George Allanson who you say was in the Civil War, is not the George Allanson who is the son of John Allanson and Elizabeth Sterling. I hope this makes sense and helps...if you still want to write feel free to, I will help with what I can

Mo :)

Hello Michael

It is soo good to see that somebody still spells the family name right. "Allanson"

I am a decendant of John Allanson and Elizabeth Sterling and they actually had 7 children. George being the oldest.
I have quite a bit more information on them and the family. BUT you will have to contact me personally...I can not be reached on here...(Fancy18 is a friend of mine)
My email is motrottier@yahoo.com

CAN'T WAIT to share with you about the family...
Thank you in advance and I hope I can help you out!

Just call me Mo :)

Ok, I want to find out where and how you found all that out!!!
I am a living relative of your Louis Herman Allanson...
(If I'm not, the similarities are scary)

Problem here is, Fancy18 is a friend of mine.
If you are serious about exchanging information PLEASE write me at motrottier@yahoo.com

This is what I have btw...

-John Allanson and Elizabeth Sterling married in either July, Aug. or Sept. of 1839 in St. Pancras, London, Middlesex, England

-Then in either April, May or June of 1840 they had their first child, George in Islington, Greater London, London, Middlesex, England.

-A year later in 1841, John, Elizabeth and George are living in St. Mary Islington West, Middlesex, England
And his occupation is listed as and "Engraver"

-Between then and 1848 John and Elizabeth had 5 more children...Louis H., Elizabeth, Anna, and Catherine. All born to them in England.

-THEN in the fall of 1848 the "John Allanson Family" left England for the States with 6 children and Elizabeth was pregnant...very pregnant I believe, because in Sept of that year while on the ship the "Margaret Evans" she gave birth to their 7th child and my Great-great-grandfather...Alfred William Allanson. On October 17, 1848 they arrived at the port of New York, NY from London England.

And After this, until the children are much older and married, I lose them...and the women I have not been able to find.

I AM EXTREMELY THRILLED to read your post about Louis. You actually have information that I do not and that is always exciting. Hopefully with what you have I can fill in the blanks. THANK YOU and I hope tho hear from you soon!

IF I am somehow way off here please let me know that also so I do not follow the wrong trail.

"believed to be related",
just call me Mo :)
Hello- I would be grateful to have information on the Dadswell. I have her photo and some information but not much. My mother is 95 and very alert and I have been getting all the family stories I can. She does remember going to the Allanson farm as a child and has some stories about the family. I really feel that these stories make the people more real and should not be lost. I have even taped Mom telling some of the stories so we have her voice. Next step will be to tape her. Sara and I have discovered we are related. Amazing. Thank you for any info you can send me. Carol

Hi Carol--

Yes, that's the same info as I have, with some slight variations on the dates. I have Sallie born August 18,1843 and Richard born Nov. 18, 1834 and dying on Jan. 1, 1909. I'll double check these, They may have come from a 1905 family history that Frederic (their son who was my grandfather) Allanson's wife, Mabel Laufer (German immigrant family with a long history, crossing in the 1750') had. Mabel was my grandmother. I'm thinking that may make us second cousins, but I still don't have a picture in my mind.

The Lauffers are issuing a 100-year anniversary edition of their hitory this year. I've been helping with it. I'd love to be able to include additional Allanson iformation, as I haven't had much of it, the emphasis having been on the Lauffers my Allanson married for this book. Please send whatever you feel comfortable with and I'll see if it's not to late to include it in the new publication (if you want to).

I also have names of some good alive-and-well-and-active-in-genealogy-Dadswell contacts--the best in Canada and Australia. And probably some other living Allansons (more cousins). There's a large Allanson research group in Britain; they looked into some things for me, but came up empty. Maybe, armed with your new information, that group could be useful with pre-crossing records. Historical records in Britain deem to have been around for a very long time. I wouldn't be above going to Sussex and seeing what there is to find. I went there on my honeymoon--it's a lovely place--but I wasn't interested in genealogy at the time.

If you'd not nervous about posting your e-mail address here, I'd be glad to send you what I've got. I'm sure I'll be able to do that after I open up your e-mail from a couple of days ago. I just wasn't too sure it was a good thing to post a personal e-mail address online, so I used my offie e-mail address, and will transfer the data you sent there to my home.

Thanks again. Let me know if there's something or someone in particular that you're looking for. There seems to be a wealth of infomation on the Dadswells, but I haven't struck gold on the Allansons. Maybe I just haven't been mining in the right spots!

Sara

Hello, I show Arthur Allanson married to Alice Stringer and Sally married to their son, Richard. Richard had a son named Fred and a doughter named Maggie - and other children. Maggie is my grandmother. Sallie was born on August 28, 1843 in Sussex, England and died October 22, 1909. Richard Allanson was born Nov. 18, 1830 in Albany, N.Y. and died in Stockton, IL (same as Sallie) on Jan. 11, 1909. Does this agree with your information? I hope so. It would be great to find a relative online. Hopefully your cousin, Carol
If you're a descendant of Sally Dadswell and Arthur Allanson, we're related somehow! My records show that they had 9 children. Which of these are you through? I'm through Frederick Allanson.

Where are you located? Maybe Illinois, or have you digressed from there? I'm in rural South Mississippi, having come via New Orleans where I went to college, and the East Coast, where I grew up.

Are you familiar with the Allanson DNA project, for male descendants who still bear that surname? If you know of any (we have none left in my family line), I'd be glad to send information on it. Pretty intersting stuff, that they say can help identify British origins of the name....

I don't know if I can wait until Monday to see what you sent! Thanks again.

I have only just begun looking at my Allison/Allanson line. I only know that I am an Allanson and that this line is from England because of another researcher that has done quite a bit of work on this line. He only has them back to England in the early 1600's just before they came to America. What is your documentation that they are connected to the Macdonald's in Scotland? Is that a ScotIrish line originally from Ireland? There is a tradition in my family of being ScotIrish, but I do not have the connection for that. - Sally

Alice Perrault
2. Mabel b. 1882 (was she b. in England?)

Any idea when the left England?

I have lots of Allanson info from the Liverpool and surrounding city area.

On that note, there is a James Allanson married in West Derby registered in 1860. On the same index page is a Jane Jones. Any chance this is yours? There was also a Mabel Allanson b. registered in West Derby in 1883.
Re: Thomas Allanson, England/Charles City Co. Va.

Dear Bob Messersmith,
I am replying to a post dated Oct 2005 on RoostsWeb website. When I read your post the hairs on my arms literally stood straight up. I am the gggGranddaughter of Jane Allanson, born 1827 in Yorkshire England, and Thomas Allanson born 1819 in England also. Yes, Jane and Thomas came to the US in 1850 and lived in Charles City Co, Virginia. I am missing information as well but perhaps we both have different info to exchange. I have been searching endlessly for information about Jane Allanson, especially her maiden name. Here is a break down of my relationship. Thomas and Jane Allanson had a daughter, Jane, born in England in 1849. Jane married Amos J. Potter in 1870 (a civil war veteran) in Charles City Co. VA. They had three daughters, one named Jessie born in 1873. Jessie married Shirley Hobson and they had 3 sons, one named Amos born in 1902. Amos Hobson marries Margaret Kelly and they have a daughter named Jane in 1932 who is my mother. I am Jessie McClary. I will be happy to shed more light on that confusing paragraph for you. My email is jmacdesigns@charter.net
I look forward to hearing back from you,
Jessie

Joseph and Ann had 6 children all born in Broxa: Joseph 1826, Henry 1834, Julia 1838, Thomas 1840, William 1818 and Hannah 1828. Their daughter Julia Ursula Allanson had a son William Allamson born 1860 in Broxa. She later married William Estill who was born 1828 Saltersgate. They had 7 children: Sarah, Ade, John, Laura, Elizabeth, Julia and George. Their daughter Sarah Ann Estill born 1866 Blakey Farm, Allerston married John William Parker and they had 7 children burn in Scalby & Burniston and immigrated with all the children to Coombs, BC, Canada 1910 with the assistance of the Salvation Army. Is there a connection with your Allanson line? Best regards, Kerry Parker

History of the Allanson name

My known ancestors were Allisons. Thanks to the generosity of a genealogist from on of these message boards I now know that my Allison name had been Allanson and that earlier ancestors came from England. We have a strong tradition in our family of my ggranddad being ScottsIrish and very proud of it. I had always thought that this heritage came down from the Allison line. One of my great uncles who was known as Mack wrote his name as Mc Allison and yet the research shared with me shows that my line comes down from Thomas Allanson who arrived in America as an indentured servant in the 1600's from England. Does anyone know the history of the Allanson/Allison name? Thank you for any enlightenment that you can provide. Sally

I am trying to find a birth for Anna Allanson born around 1770 I believe in Birdforth/Carlton Husthwaite. She Married William Kendall about 1795. She died before 1841 but William Kendal was living in Carlton Husthwaite next door to William ALlanson and his wife ann and their children THomas and James. Could William be her brother?
any help greatly appreciated
sarah
