The surname of ALCORN is spelled ALCORAN on the Will of Mary ALCORN, just as it was done on the Will of her husband James ALCORN in 1761

In the Name of God Amen this eleventh day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two I Mary Alcoran of Middleton in the County of Cumberland and Province of Pennsylvania being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefor calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it was appointed for all men once to die do make this my last Will and Testament and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me In this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form , Imprimis that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God . Item it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral charges be firstly paid and satisfied . Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine the wife of David Steel the just sum of two shillings and sixpence and no more. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah the wife of Hugh McCormick the just sum of six shilling and six pence and no more. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Victoria the wife of William Rankins the just sum of six shillings and sixpence & no more. Item I give and bequeath unto my son James Alcoran the sum of five shillings. Item I give unto my son James son Robert Alcoran the one half of all my remaining Estate both real and personal to him his heirs and assigns forever . Item I give and bequeath the other half of my remaining Estate both real and personal unto my son James daughters Mary and Jane for an equal proportion to them their heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby constitute and appoint John Stuart Guardian over that part of my estate I have willed and bequeathed to my son James three children and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son James Alcoran the whole sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly Revoke Disanull and disallow all other former Wills Testaments or Legacy by me in any wise before named Willed or Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament signed sealed Published Pronounced and Declared In the Presence of William Fleming , Will'm Waugh

Be it remembered that on the 20th of Feby 1763 letter Testamentary issued in common form to James Alcoran in said Will named Inventory to be exhibited on or before the 2oth Day of March next & an acct. of the Administration Rendered when thereunto required . given under my hand and seal of office .
