In researching the history of a house in the Pacific Northwest I came to find it was built by William H. Allen, of Fort Plain, Montgomery County, New York.

I found he and his wife living on the property in the 1900 census, but soon after building the new house in 1903, they must have gone back to New York. William H. Allen and his various siblings retained ownership to the property over the years, likely renting out the house, eventually selling it in their old age in the late 1920s.

In researching the Allen family, it seems that William and his siblings were not a very prolific bunch. William and his wife never had children. Four of William's six sisters never married or had children, living together in old age... Sarah J. and Charlotte, and twins Matilda and Margaret.

Two other sisters Anna Maria and Mary Ada, may have married.

The parents of these siblings were Thomas Allen, born about 1913 and Jane Hayland, born about 1911, both in England.
The family remained in the Minden area for most of their lives, with some of them moving to Daytona, Florida in the 1920s. Sarah and Charlotte lived in Westfield, Massachusetts for a time. But most are buried at Fort Plain.

I am looking for any kind of information about this family, especially marriage records for the sisters Anna and Mary.

I am curious why so many members of this family did not marry or have children, and what brought them to Whatcom County, Washington, albeit briefly.
