Just reposting info again to see if anyone has any Allenbachs or Erlenbachs in the south. I am researching Edward Stevel Allenbach, whose father was Louis Allenbach, whose father was Louis Erlenbach. All are buried in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. This is such an unusual name, was hoping to make a connection someplace. Can't seem to get beyond what little information I have. Carolyn

My location is Salt Lake City. I will see If I can make another connection for you. It is likely that we should be able to get something. When our ancestsry comes directly from Canton Bern where the family seat at Adelboden ( south up the mountains from Lake Geneva(Lac Leman on some maps) it gets tougher. No microfilming of Bern records has been done.
However, there are some Allenbachs who came into Canton Vaud and an extensive collection of records are available on microfilm. When I have an opportunity will check some of these and see if I can find the family.
Another source is the shipping lists of boats that carried immigrants to US ports.
Let me know when you get something and I will also reply.

We need to get going.
My connection begins with the marriage of my 4th great grandfather Jean Daniel Ursenbach who married Jean Elizabeth Alenbach, daughter of Nicolaus Allenbach and Elisabeth Rohrbach. I go back four more generations to Hans Allenbach and Trina Trummer. That is a start and can willingly furnish everything else I have.

I haven't gone very far back in my Miller line, but I don't know if my ggrandfather had brothers or when he immigrated or how long he was here. There's always the possibility I'll find out down the road. Miller is a very popular name! Thanks again for the reply. Keep searching!:) Carolyn

Christina,
My maiden name is Miller and my family is from Mobile, Alabama. I am searching for any of my Allenbach relatives. My mother was Marguerite Magdalen Allenbach(1916-1989), daughter of Edward Steven Allenbach(1891-1918) and Anna Streb Allenbach. Marguerite married Dominic Joseph Miller. Edward, my grandfather, had a brother, William G.Allenbach(1886-1930) and three sisters: Madalene(1896-1967), Louie(1900-1941) and Marguerite Allenbach Peterson. All are buried in Mobile, Ala. His obituary listed his mother as a Mrs. J. Donoghue. That's all we know of my greatgrandmother. Hope your branch ties in with mine.

When I read this message, I was beside myself with joy. You see my name is Carol Allenback and my great grandfather changed his last name from Allenbach to Allenback in WW1. My family has a history of the Allenbach family tree, but it only dates back to the early 1700's in Adelboden Switzerland. It would be wonderful for my grandfather, Roy Allenback, to see more of his ancestory in Adelboden Switzerland as far back as the 1500's before his passing.

Thank you,

Carol Allenback.
