CARY, N.C. -- Evelyn Thompson Adams, 99, Cary, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at the Cary Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of natural causes.

Private services will be held. Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Raleigh, was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Hopkinsville, the daughter of the late James Butler and Evelyn Allensworth.

She had taught piano in Washington, D.C., Great Neck, N.Y. and Lake Lenape, N.J.

Her husbands Col. Marcellus Hagans Thompson and Robert Barryhill Adams, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children, Evelyn Thompson, Great Neck, Mrs. William S. (Juliet Thompson) Debnam, Raleigh, Dr. Robert B. Adams, Roxboro, N.C., four granddaughters and a grandson and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County.

My records show 2/16/1834, born Illinois (census). 3 siblings, parents John and Catherine born Virginia. Not sure when/where she died. Her name is on a headstone in the Bergen Cemetery in Mackinaw, Tazewell County, IL. with a son Bethual. But no death date. Adjacent stone is Daniel and his first wife.

No, unfortunately not. I had been working on the Allensworth line. She had sent me a small book on Allen Allensworth a couple of years back. I had a babysitter that was doing a report on him for school and was going to contact Anita with some questions. I think that is so odd she has no forwarding information and is not online anymore!? While researching the Luttrull / Luttrell family, I have in my possession a death certificate for "Helon Lutrell". She died 6/14/1939 in Grahamville, McCracken Co, KY. Birthdate listed is 5/8/1869 in Christian Co, Ky. Father is John Allenworth born in KY and mother is unknown. She was married at the time of death but her husband's name is unreadable except for the last name of Lutrell. She was buried in Lowes Cemetery which I assume is in McCracken Co, KY - the place of death.
The informant on the death certificate is Pate (last name unreadable) from Paducah, R #2, KY

I believe her name to be Martha H. Allensworth from census records and I know there was a Allensworth Plantation in Christian Co, KY. Does anyone know if this lady was from the Butler Allensworth clan from Christian Co Ky and what her Luttrell husband's first name was?

The Allensworth family I am interested in started in Virginia. Later some of them came to Knox City Missouri. There was intermarriage between the Orendorff and Allensworth families. John Robert Orendorff married Emma Alice Allensworth about 1888. This was not first marriage between Allensworth and Orendorff. John and Emma were my Great Grandparents.
John Orendorff came from Illinois. In fact some of their children were born in Springfield Illinois
Enoch Doss Allensworth married Eliza Orendorff. A sister to John. Enoch Doss Allensworth was an Uncle to Emma Alice Allensworth.

No, unfortunately, I haven't been able to contact her. The e-mail and phone number's do not work and my letters were returned to me from the post office.

She supposedly has information concerning one of my "brick walls" in my research and I truly would love to find her.

I have been on every geneology site and have tried all of the contact information listed in trying to make contact with her.

I'm out of ideas on how to make contact.

Thanks for the info. I am continuing my G'mothers research. She was Jennie Mac Allensworth--wife of Stephen Kay Allensworth.She was born in 1876 and he was hear her age. They lived in Todd co,Ky, near Guthrie Ky.

In loving memory of Dwight Allensworth 1931-2003, a loving, compassionate, generous, thoughtful, old-fashioned and sentimental father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Anyone that knew him would agree. He will be missed dearly. Dwight Lee Allensworth - November 28, 1931 to February 10, 2003 Born in Henderson, Iowa (Anderson Township, Mills County) of Louis Earl Allensworth and Viva Marie Allensworth (maiden name Carter). After graduation from high school in 1949, Dwight joined the Air Force on December 27, 1950 wherein he was trained and became a tail gunner and toured in England during 1954. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1954. In 1957 he graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago with a degree in Electric Technology. Thereafter he moved to Texas and ended his journey in Albuquerque, New Mexico to begin his career at Sandia Laboratories. Dwight married Lynn Abrams on January 26, 1964 and had three daughters. Dwight is survived by his daughters, Stacey Allensworth Tuttle, Kerri Lee Peck and her husband, Trace, and Brooke Marie Allensworth; his grandchildren, Sydni Allyn and Hunter Russel Peck and Jacob Fox Downey; his ex-wife, Lynn Allensworth; his siblings, Don and Alice Allensworth, Keith and Edith Allensworth and Sharon Gollhofer; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Steele on 15 Jan 1852 in Tazewell Co, IL, don't know if they had any children or if William died, but she remarried 2) Daniel Lawrence on 16 Dec 1857 also in Tazewell Co, IL and they had 5 children.

Retha---I too am resarching theAllensworth family. My grandfather was Stephen Kay Allensworth Sr. and my father was a Jr.
I know that Philip was born in 1747 in Frederick , Va, died in 1800 He had brothers James and William Married Catherine Butler who also lived in Frederick b.1755,d.1817.
Children were Butler,b 8-13-1777,d.6-1839 in Christian co, Ky.

Hi,
I am trying to locate the family of Veva Allensworth. All I know is that she was born 28 Dec 1895 in Missouri.
By her twentieth birthday, she had moved to North Dakota. I do not know at this point, if she came alone or brought family. She married a man by the name of Slorby in North Dakota. This is my husband's grandmother, and no one in the family talked about relatives, and I guess no one asked questions either. My mother-in-law didn't know either of her grandparents names.
