Mary's marriage to Thomas Cushman would be listed/proven and accepted as fact in the Mayflower Silver Book Allerton #17 and is the authority to prove your lineage to the Mayflower Society and if thats not good enough for Colonial Dames I wouldn't join. Who are they to hold a higher standard than the Mayflower Society. Just sayin! IF a paper document exists the Mayflower Society would have it. You might want to also ask all the proven Cushman people how they feel about this. LOL

Janean - Isaac Allerton PROVEN descendant!

Allerton mid-1700's New Jersey

Looking for information on Allertons who resided in New Jersey, probably Morris County, in the mid to late 1700's. My grandmother had research done many years ago and had the name of Louisa Allerton as the wife of Philip Losey. I have never found any proof. I am hopping that if I trace Allertons in the area at the time, something may come up that helps. Philip Losey was born in Hanover, New Jersey in 1750 and died in Morristown, Morris County, New Jersey in 1803.
Thank you,
Sue

I am a Mayflower Allerton Descendant but my line is out of Virginia and Illinois. So I don't know about the other descendants and where they went.

Janean

I'm looking for Allerton's in Virginia and North Carolina. I'm related to a Jemima or Mima Allerton that married an Isaac Barton at the first of the 1800's. Their son married 4 times and Mima is named as his mother on the last 3 of them. The first one was a marriage bond. I've been trying to see if the Allerton's from the Mayflower connect with her or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

If the postcard was from Syracuse - This could be Marjorie F Allerton, daughter of Samuel M. Allerton and his wife Lena (not sure of last name). I don't know who the other girl that you referenced. If my assumption is correct, she would be related to my husband's family on a totally different line of the family. My husband is a Spaulding and way back one of the Spaulding's married into the Allerton family.

Susan B. Spaulding

Hi bill I am from Canada and was wondering how pertinet this family was to the history of the colonies, Mayflower. I am a history buff but know very little of the pilgrim era.
From the book I have I can see that Issac was assistant Govenor at one time, so just how inportant might this book be? being printed in 1888 tells me that it could have some value, the photos must have been photo engravings that arein very good shape some still having tissue over them.
Just interested in preserving a piece of history if possible.
It was the earlist copy of any Allerton book I know to date to be Printed Just curious
I have no ties that I know of to this Family and just wanted some feedback
Thanks

John Newton first married Mary Allerton, then he had 2 more wives I haven't found names for, then he married Rose Allerton abt 1676 she was born 1629 and died 1712. John and Mary had William,Allerton,Willoughby and Edward. Then he had Joseph with his second wife. Then he had Benjamin with his third wife. Then he had Thomas, Elizabeth and Gerard by his fourth wife. I'm searching the Newton Family and thats as far back as I have gotten. I hope this is of some help to you maybe the maze will come together for you.
Janet Newton

I do not know of a connection with Colin. My husbands family did settle in Pennsylvania where they lived in Pittsburgh. I am sure there is a connection. His great grandfathers name was Thomas and he married a woman by the name of Annie and we do not know her last name.

They go back to the Allerton Potteries in England. I would appreciate any additional information that anyone would have.

Annie and Thomas had three children Ethel, John and Roland Allerton. Ethel is my husbands line and they moved to St. Louis in the 1920s.

Thanks for answering my query. Question does your family go back to the potteries.

According to a book I have on the Allertons - Susan Cordelia died in infancy. Also on the LDS site there is an Elizabeth Crosby Simpson, 134 Tabglewood Drive, Greenville, SC 29611 who posted information on the same family. I don't know if this is a good address anymore. The 1920 Census lists Amos V. as 72, widowed living in the Stark County Infirmary, Plain Township. The 1910 census lists Samuel Allerton age 26 from Ohio in the military at Camp Jossman, Guimaras, Philippines. 1920 census Samuel age 36 working as a rubber and tire worker, his wife Mannie B. age 28 - born Nebraska - phone operator (her mother born NY) daughter Frances L. age 9 born New Mexico, son Warren P age 7, son Lewis E, age 4 11/12.
ean (researching a different Allerton line)
