I am trying to find any living relatives of this early 1800's couple. We bought a house that has Susannah's tombstone in the back yard. I believe She and Joseph were from North Carolina and moved to Jefferson County Indiana. This is where I believe she was burried.The stone says she was 50 years old ar her death in 1850 or 1859 (carving is not clear) They did not live in the area that was cleared to become the Jefferson proving grounds. We believe this tombstone may have been a mistake and possibly sold as a foundation stone. It seems to have been taken care of for 150 years since it was carved so it may held some significance to our home's previous owners. All of those people are passed on and not available for questioning. I would really like to find the family this belongs to. I know I would like to know if such an artifact remained of one of my ancestors.
