Seeking information on Jeff alley siblings and parents. He is my gt gt grandfather. He was civil war vet. Co. B 127th Indiana volunteers. Born 1838. Maried Mary Alley. Possibly moved to Sw Iowa. Possibly relative to Samual Alley, Born 1761 in Henrico County, Virgina.He maried Mary(Polly Osborne.
Samual Alley died 1847 in Shelby County, Indiana. William alley,son of Jeff alley Married Mattie Ellen Britian. Any information on the families would be greatly appreciated.

Parents of Minor Alley, VA and IND Alleys

I have hit a wall seeking information on Minor Alley, born in Virginia in 1811, married first in Henry County, Indiana in 1832 to Salina Selma Butler, then around 1847 to Nancy Meek in Miami County, Indiana, and finally to Mary Cox around 1864 in Cass County, Indiana. Minor is my ggg-grandfather through his son Franklin, his son Edgar, his son Floyd Rufus, and his son George Edward. I have found references to Minor Alley owning a sawmill in Logansport, Indiana (Cass County) in the early 1830's and he is buried in a small cemetery off of SR 25 in Fulton, Indiana (Fulton County - I have pix) with many of the members of his household identified in the 1850 Fulton County census. He left a will in Fulton County following his death in 1870 which was administered by John W. Butler. Offspring moved to Tipton, County Indiana following Minor's death. His daughter Nancy Alley married Christopher Parker and one of his sons married another Parker. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for ancestors of Edgar Alley, my great grandfather, who was born 8-25-1879 around Tipton, Indiana and later married Mary (Moore) Dwiggins. Their children included Floyd Rufus Alley (my grandfather b. 1900), Howard L. Alley (1903), Iretha (Alley) Bryan (1905) and and Harry Alley (1910). My father, George Edward Alley was born 11-19-1934 in Muncie, IN to Rufus and Olive (Beck) Alley. A family legend has it that sometime around 1800, another Edgar Alley married a native american woman from the area between Atlanta, IN and Peru, IN and I am trying to fill in the gaps between the two Edgar Alleys. I am trying to find any living relatives of this early 1800's couple. We bought a house that has Susannah's tombstone in the back yard. I believe She and Joseph were from North Carolina and moved to Jefferson County Indiana. This is where I believe she was burried.The stone says she was 50 years old ar her death in 1850 or 1859 (carving is not clear) They did not live in the area that was cleared to become the Jefferson proving grounds. We believe this tombstone may have been a mistake and possibly sold as a foundation stone. It seems to have been taken care of for 150 years since it was carved so it may held some significance to our home's previous owners. All of those people are passed on and not available for questioning. I would really like to find the family this belongs to. I know I would like to know if such an artifact remained of one of my ancestors.

My name is Jerry Hillegas and I am a seventh or eighth generation descendant of JOSIAH JORDAN 1760-1840, depending on which branch of the family tree you climb down from. I have recently retired from the US Navy and have taken up the task of accumulating and updating my mother's family tree data. Some of you may be familiar with the book "JOSIAH JORDAN and his Descendants 1760 to 1979". I am in the process of retyping it into a computer word document so that it can be readily updated and printed for whoever wishes the information.
I am reformatting the information so it is easier to read, moving the pictures and documents to the individual entries, and have even added a few new branches for individuals that hadn't been listed in the earlier version.
My plea is if you or a realitive are in this book please contact me so I may update your family's section as I wish to have a new version (1760 to 2010) 250 years of Descendants available for printout or file on CDROM computer disk for anyone who wants it. If you are not familiar with this book and you are related to a Josiah Jordan descendant or think you might be, please contact me and we will find out.

Have recently learned that Sarah Alley Decker, daughter of James L. and Massey Saunders Alley and wife of Thomas, was my great-great-great-grandmother. Records available to me indicate they had two children, Catharine and John, at least those are the only two who were living with them at the time of the 1850 census. Does anyone else know of additional offspring of this couple? My line comes from their son John and I would be glad to exchange information if anyone is interested. Would also like to know what happened to Catharine.

I am hitting brick walls trying to locate any information on this Alley family. Ora Lee had brothers and sisters by the names of George, James and John (accidently shot while hunting); sisters were Martha(m Cottrell), Rosa married John Unthank, and Julie married a Seay. David Martin Alley 1845-1926

David was the son of Thomas and Jedida Alley. At various times he was a buffalo hunter, a wagon freighter and farmer.

I am wanting to contact the descendants of David Martin Alley. He was born in Missouri and died in Kansas. His wife was Mary Elizabeth Barnes, born 1856-1950 and they were married in 1875 - Kansas.

Their children:
#1. James Lewis Alley, born 1876-Ks. and died 1954, was married to Grace Mable Stansberry in 1896.

#2. Milo Ben Alley, born 1878-Ks. and died 1968-Ks. He married Jessie Anderson in 1902. I know that Milo Ben Alley lived in Mulvane, Kansas. David Alley had a farm also north of the town of Mulvane, Kansas. There is a copy of a beautiful marriage license of Milo and Jessi Alley in a very large frame in the Mulvane Museum.

#3. Lilly Pearl Alley, born 1879-Ks. and died 1883-Ks.

# 4. Fred Thomas Alley, born 1882-Ks and died 1961-Ok. He married Evalena, or Evelyn Marie Newton in 1904.

#5. Mamie Lee Alley, born 1884-Ks. and died 1977.New Mexico. She married Carl Sherwood, born ca 1879 and they married 1903.

6. Richard Alley, born 1886-Ks. and died in 1973 in Oklahoma. He was married to Theo Anderson in 1908.

I have 3 pictures of a Maxine Alley that I would love to give to anyone of the Alley family.

There was an Alley Hotel (St. Nickolas Holtel) June 1909, In Mulvane, Kansas.

Hopefully, there are some descendants of these Alleys.

I am interested in the Alley family, as a web site indicates that Hannah Alley, the granddaughter of Francis Alley and Wealthian (Snelling) Alley, was born in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. Fascinating is they moved first to Virginia, then two generations later are found in Rowley, on the border of Boxford, where Asa and Mark Snelling lived. And even more fascinating was Wealthian Snelling was the daughter of Thomas and Johanna Snelling of Devon, England, related to John and William, the nephew and uncle who first settled in Massachusetts in 1634. I wonder if this could be a link? Does anyone know more?

I am also curious about the East China Tea Company...former in England in 1602. It appears there were Snellings who were involved in that, to include a Simon Snelling and a George Snelling. Simon Snelling was married to a woman who later married William Doggett, who was with the East China Tea Company. The East China Tea Company was very big in Barcelona, Spain, as well as Barbados and Virginia....has anyone tired into this link at all?

Alley, Noah 20 farm laborer

I am thinking that Noah is her brother. Indiana Marriage records state that Mary Alley and Andrew Sholty were married in Decatur County 24 OCT 1857. I was thinking that Mary and Nancy could be the same person. Any clues out there or ideas for me to go on?

Tons of Alleys, Hugh being one of them. Quite a few Alleys settled the city of Lynn, MA in the early 1600's. You may come across Breeds who were another prominent Lynn family.

George William lived in Boyd County, Kentucky near the mouth of the Big Sandy River at Catlettsburg for an undetermined length of time. Also probably at Ceda Hill, Texas some time around 1887-1888.

I am interested in the Allie families. The surname is spelled several different ways, but I believe there is a metis connection to my branch through David Alley. David may be a nick name or a middle name. He married Rose Richard/s. THeir first child Viola Alley is reported to be born in Burhnamwood, Shawano Co., WI, 1898. Viola's birth was reported some time later and it is possible that she was born in IA. David and Rose are both shown as being born in Canada. From all my researching I have noted that the family moved frequently. They may have been in MI and MN also. David, Viola's father was born <1870>. His parents may be David Alley and Hannah Maxon. I have found something showing that they were married in Two Rivers, WI, but this may be wrong. They could have been married in Canada. From Censuses it appears David's <1870> family immigrated to WI <1878>. His siblings were born in the US. I would be interested in exchanging info with anyone interested in these families. My mother and I both believe that there must be Native American ties on the Alley side of her family. The Alleys of my mother's family all have distinctly Indian features, while the other side is a mixture of different colors and schemes. Viola grew up mostly in Price Co., WI. Her siblings were Chester/Chet, Clayton, Oakley, Olive, Eva, Leslie/Taps, and Arnold. My mother remebers
her grandfather David living in Park Falls before his death.

As all of us know all genealogy books are just what they are a cummulation of family trees that have been put together by human hands. Therefore they are falible no matter how careful we try to be.
We always use genealogy books as guides.
By the way, I have all the Alley Files of Gene Alley who published the "Alley Ancestors". I have all the researchers files and their names. So don't go slinging mud at Alley Genealogy books. I don't like it.

ONEONTA — Anthony F. Alley, 64, of Oneonta, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at the A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1934, in Oneonta, the son of Thomas and Palma (DiGiovanni) Alley.
Tony retired in 1996 as a machinist with Allied Amphenol in Sidney, where he was employed for 42 years. He also served in the United States Army National Guard as a master sergeant.
He was a lifelong resident and member of St. Mary's Church. Tony also belonged to Lodge 1529 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and canoeing. He was a great believer in physical fitness and worked out daily at the Bassett Healthcare Center in Oneonta.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Teresa and John Roy of Attleboro, Mass., Toni and Gary Bannister of LaGrange, Ky., and Thomas and Lorraine Alley of Syracuse; four grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Glenn Shultis of Oneonta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tony was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Robert Alley and Margaret Ploutz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta with the Rev. Robert Longobucco, associate pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Friends may call on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta at which time the family will be in attendance.
Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

I'm particularly looking for Viola Alley, she was raised by her cousin James Land. Accourding to the 1900 Cencus she was living with James, his wife Rebeca and there 5 children and 2 grandchildren in Salado, Independence Co, Arkansas. Of course by 1910 she was married to Richard J Hanks and soon had 4 children. I'm hoping to make a connection of her parents names by going through the cousin. Can anyone help? Thanks

Anyone who builds his Family tree solely on the Alley Ancestor book by Gene Alley, without doing independent research will have a Crooked Tree, an inaccurate history.

The Thomas Alley line is not totally accurate in some cases..re Thomas an Jane, Thomas & Susan Howerton,
Thomas Jr a& Ann , James an Susan Kelsey, David & Sophia an Evaline..Pages VA -47, 48, 51, 57. There are errors in other lines as well.
There have been instances were a generation was overlooked,
son married to mother, people added who do not belong.

There is information indicating that the Thomas line started in Mass. and came to Henrico Co..so one should explore all possibilities and not be to eager to quote online from the book.

Searching for parents and wife of WILLIAM ALLEY, born about 1790 in Virginia (possibly Prince George Co).
He appears in the 1810 census for VA and then in Floyd Co KY from 1820 to 1850. Wife's name may be Elizabeth.
Any information would be appreicated. Son's name is David, he was married to Ursula or Ursly Branham.

We are in search of this woman. What little information we have seems to keep leading to dead ends. Helen Louise Alley was born in Reading Mass? on 3/29/1935. Seems there is no birth certificate for her in the state of Mass. There was no hospital in Reading so she might have been a home birth but there is no birth certificate.

A church has a baptismal record for her but we have yet to confirm her mother's name (only linking piece from her marriage certificate). Her mother's name is Margaret Alley. We do not know when she was born or where. We do not have a father's name (but baptismal record probably has it).

She was marriage to George Arthur Hawes on May 21, 1951 in Weymouth at Sacred Heart Church. Her first son was born May 20, 1952 in Weymouth, her secornd son was born July 21, 1955 in Quincy. In 1955 they all came to NJ. She was hospitalized from 1958 to 1969. During which time (1958) she had a daughter who was taken by the state and adopted.Her husband took her boys back to Mass. and split them up and left them in different states.

Her sons would like to find their mother. Her youngest son is sick (lung and liver problems) and would very much like to find his mother before it is too late. Both boys would like to reunite with her and include her in their families. This injustice done to the boys and their mother was none of their faults. The husband had the control and destroyed this family. The boys have no contact with him.

If anyone can help, please email us. We are all over (NJ, PA, MO). Hopefully someone will see this and have some information as to other family members or even a miracle, know where Helen is.

Cameron Paul Alley was married to Mary Plena Kier on 10/16/1931. Cameron was born on 3/4/1904 and Mary was born on 10/6/1913. Their 7 Children are

Charles's 2nd marriage was to an "Andrews" Lady, her 1st name is "unknown".

Mary Plena Kier's 2nd marriage was to Loren Andrews on 5/5/1963.

Walter Alley was in Overton Co. TN which later was Putman Co. TN. He had two daughters, one was my gggrandmother,
Harriet Alley. She married my gggrandfather, Matthew Holford, about 1827, s/o John Holford. John died about 1834.
Matthew and Harriet moved to Carrollton Co., AK, 1839. Then about 1850, they moved to Grayson Co., TX. Would like to learn more about the Walter Alley family.

I am looking for any info concerning Mary Jane Alley who was the sister of Rev Frederick Alley, a Congregational clergyman of Irish origin who helped found churches in the Saline Co area in the late 1800's.eg Crete 1871-2.
Frederick, Mary Jane and another brother, Charles, emigrated from Queens County Ireland in 1856.
Frederick m Mary Caroline Nelson, Charles married Zaider Irene Judd after returning from the Civil War, and they both had quite a few children. But all we know of Mary Jane was that she married a Mr Weidman or Wiedam .
Charles was in the Brownsville area while Frederick moved around various parts of Saline Co, and elsewhere, eventually retiring to Denver.
Mary Jane had appeared on a census in the same vicinity as Rev Frederick (I'm not sure which year, this was in the mid to late 1800's though) before her marriage then she is lost from view.
Any obits or other info would be very much appreciated.

Looking for information about Henry Alley, wife Martha B. ?, enumerated in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses for Marshall Co., Mississippi, Mt. Pleasant PO. I believe that this is the same Henry Alley listed in the 1830 Madison Co. Alabama Census, as well as the 1840 Fayette Co. Tennessee Census.
Henry Alley was born ca. 1800 in Virginia, wife Martha B. born ca. 1806 in Kentucky. Children listed as John H., born ca. 1830 in Alabama; James H. born ca. 1834 in Alabama; William D. born ca. 1836 in Alabama; Ann J. born ca. 1838 in Tennessee; Martha B. born ca. 1841 in Tennessee; Mary F. born ca. 1843 in Tennessee; Thomas R, born ca. 1847 in Tennessee, and David A., born 1850 in Mississippi.
I believe the above-mentioned John H. Alley is my gr.gr.grandfather, born 27 Nov. 1829 either in Alabama or Mississippi, died 23 Feb.1869 in Milam Co., TX. My John Henry Alley married Mary Elizabeth Stewart on 12 July 1860 in Milam Co. Texas.
I would like to make a factual connection, as well as discover Martha B. Alley’s maiden name. I would also like to learn who Henry and Martha B. Alley’s parents were. Thanks for any help.
