I am attaching a newpaper article found in some items left to me my my Grandmother for Genealological purposes. Dont know why she had this since it is not our family. It is a wonderful article about a Judith Ann Allin being christened along with her cousin Elisabeth Jean Blanchard. Aout 1941 in Chico Cal. It speaks of a Colonel B. C. Allin (Grandfather) who brought the christening water from the River Jordon 30 years previous. It also speaks about (Grandfather) A. A. Blanchard, professor of Chemistry at the Mass. Institute of Technology. If anyone is interested they can have the article. I would be happy to mail it or email it. Sincerely, Wendy

I am currently researching physicians who practiced medicine in Chippewa County, Wisconsin from 1855 through 1930. During the past year I have discovered a Doctor Raymond Travis Allin who practiced a form of medicine, mechano therapy, in Bloomer, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. I am not able to find him nor his wife Carrie Kuist in the 1930 US census. His wife was serving as his "nurse" in 1919/20 in his Bloomer office. Do you know or have further informatio?

A son was born to John Warren Allin and Flora Belle Gritton in Cleburne, Johnson Co. Texas, in 1905 or 1906. It was named John Warren Allin, and was either still-born or died shortly after birth.
My records show only five sons of John Warren and his wife, Flora Belle. They were: Bushrod Warren Allin, Thomas Gritton Allin, James Frederick Allin, John Jouett Allin, and Robin Nail Allin.
Does anyone have any proof of the birth of the sixth son?

Philip / Phillip ALLIN / ALLEN - Revolutionary War Soldier, VA>SC>GA (S31514)

List Members,

Is anyone else researching my ancestor, Phil(l)ip Allen, b.c. 1760 probably in Virginia d. c. 1835-1840 Clarke County, Georgia. He received a pension under the Pension Act of 1832 for service in the Revolutionary War (S31514). His name is spelled Allin in the pension index and his service is shown from Virginia. Who were his parents and possible children by an earlier marriage?

The text of his pension application claims that he was about
73 years old, enlisted in 1776 in King and Queen County, Virginia, later re-enlisted in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, and eventually fought with Gen.
Greene in South Carolina.

He married probably not for the first time in 1819 Clarke County, Georgia to Sarah Robinson b. c. 1790. They had several children who can be found on the later census of Clarke County, Georgia.

He apparently owned land in what is now Oconee County, Georgia, on or near Robinson Creek.

He may have previous lived in Hancock County, Georgia.

Vivian Cates, Alto, Texas 1-936-858-3801 http://www.myinu.net/vcates

Nathaniel ALLIN - b circa 1848 (Devon and Ontario), son of Samuel & Mary (Devon)

Nathaniel Brinacombe Allin was born around 1848 in Devon, son of Samuel and Mary Allin. "Allin Families of North Devon" lists several Brimacombes that intermarried with Allins, so I'm sure his unusual middle name is significant. N.B. Allin moved to Ontario, Canada where he lived first in the Whitby, Ontario area working as a blacksmith, then moved to Melancthon township, Grey County, Ontario where he died, 1921.
The 1851 census of England shows Samuel (age 35) and Maria Allin in Holsworthy, Devon. Samuel is a blacksmith, and they have children Nathaniel (age 3) and Anna Maria (age 1). So this must be the parents, right?
I can't find this Samuel and Maria Allin in "Allin Families of North Devon". I'm desperate to connect this Nathaniel Allin to the larger Allin family.

It's been some time since you posted this, but I'll reply anyway.

I am also from this Allin line I think. My line is William Allin & Ann (Banbury) Allin, came to Canada from Cornwall in 1845 with 7 sons. Ann died in Hampton Ontario and William remarried Maria (Cornish) Wakely Allin and had 3 more sons.

If you're interested in exploring further, you can contact me at dkbendall@shaw.ca

Cheers!
Janis Bendall

Nan in Arkansas,
Yes, I am still interested in information of Phil(l)ip Allen(i)n Rev. Sol. from Virginia, who drew a pension from Clarke County, Georgia. I think he was previously in what became Hancock County, Georgia, which had previously been the southern part of Wilkes County, Georgia. It would appear that he just moved up the Oconee River. I have no family stories/tradition on this line. I am going strickly by records found by myself and others.
Please contact me off the message boards with your name, address, and e-mail address, and the name, e-mail address, and the regular mailing address of the person for whom you are doing research and who might be my distant relative. Also please send me information on how this person might be related to me.
I have some of Phillip Allen's children whose mother was probably Sarah Robinson and some possible older children by a possible earlier wife also named Sarah _?_. Without going through a lot of files, I don't recall a son named Ransom, but that does not mean he was not connected.
I have been having computer problems of one sort or the other since last summer. My hard drive crashed last September. I lost a lot of e-mail contacts and e-mail addresses, but not my paper files which are in a mess. More recently I have not been able to get the rootsweb.com e-mail lists to which I had been subscribed for years. I have been having trouble with rootsweb.com responding since early December. So I am not even sure if you will get this message or where it will appear. I am not a paid member of ancestry.com.
I have a new 911 mailing address and a new e-mail address since I posted the message you found from 2003.
Vivian T.
DNA and Genealogical Research

DNA AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH.
Testing the Y Chromosome DNA is the newest cutting edge in Genealogical Research. With the DNA results along with a paper trail, many participants have been able to break through their brick wall; confirm or eliminate a paper trail they have been researching for years; find new DNA cousins to share genealogical lines with and identify a common grandfather; identify where their direct male line originated and where they traveled for 1,000’s of years; and much more.
The Y Chromosome is passed down from father to son(s) for thousands of years virtually unchanged. If someone matches another person’s Y Chromosome DNA, then they are related especially if they share the same surname. The Y Chromosome is junk DNA in that it contains no information as to your physical being such as hair and eye color, height, left or right handed, bald or not bald, possible disease situations, etc. This information comes from other DNA and is not part of the Y Chromosome. All results are strictly confidential.
Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) is the leading and largest Genealogical Y Chromosome lab in the country. They have 4,576 Surname projects and 113,985 Y DNA records in their data base which is increasing every day. The cost for testing your Y Chromosome is very reasonable and if you test through one of the Surname Projects, there is reduced rate. Their Web Site can be found at: http://www.familytreedna.com/default.aspx
If you have questions or want more information, please feel free to contact me, Dick Allen at: oldbones1@comcast.net or my daughter, Tammy Valdez at: bonedigger@bigfoot.com
Re: Sarah Elizabeth ALLIN - b 1840, Comanche???

Sarah Elizabeth Allin is my great great grandfather. She was married to Silas Franklin Overman. I am also looking for information on Sarah's parents. I also have reason to believe that she was Indian, don't know which tribe. My grandmother received a check as she was ? part Indian. I am trying to get more information on that. Please let me know if you have any additional information. Thanks.

Re: George ALLIN books

Do you know that these books are on LDS film, under "Catologue?"
Listed as one, but the supplement is added. Photos are not terribly clear but the Trees are all there for anyone wanting to check if their ancestor is in one of them.

I am descended from this family, I am, sure but my ancestor is not mentioned.

Can anyone connect to Mary ALLIN, of Sutcombe Town, bd Jan, 1817, Holsworthy, Devon, aged 30yrs?

I think she is the daughter of William ALLEN and Elizabeth (nee DENNIS) m Sutcombe.

Mary had a son, William ALLIN, chr 11 Feb, 1810, Holsworthy, whose father was the Lord of the Manor, I have to assume "of Holsworthy and Sutcombe."
If this is so, he was Charles STANHOPE, 3rd Earl STANHOPE.

William emigrated to NZ with his wife, Prudence (nee HOOPER) and 2 sons in 1841.
