Hi, I have just had a quick look at my fam. hist. It seems there was a Thomas Allington b c1806, & married a Ettie Huntbach, and who left England for New Zealand in 1841, and died in NZ 1853. In 1872 his son Henry left for Salt Lake City, returning to Nz in 1876, but finally returned to USA 1889. Once again would be pleased to have your comments

Hi Thomas,
It's 12 years later and I"m on the same hunt you were one.

Near as I can tell, John Allington (1776 - ?) Married Elizabeth Swartwood (1779 - 1799 or so) daugther of Peter Swartwood of Walpack NJ.
They had at least one child together, Jacob -1799, before Eliz died (she's buried in Ennis Cemetery in Chemung NY.

John spend at least the next 20 years in and around Tioga County PA. He might have moved to Indiana (he's on a 1830 census with a Thomas....)

I'd love to know if you filled in any more blanks

Hi,
I hope you are still here.
You were looking for Thomas Allington (early 1800s) of Ohio, son of John Allington of PA.

I think I'm looking for the Father.
My chain takes me back to John Allington, a founder of Van Etten NY. He was born about 1776. He Married Elizabeth Swartwood in 1797 and she died two years later after giving birth to at least one son (Jacob). It's possible there was also a Thomas.

I'd love any info you have on Thomas and if you can confirm that he and his Father headed west in the early 1800s and where they settled.

I'm also trying to find John's ancestors with no luck.

Thank you.

Hello bren1dar,

The Latter Day Saints (LDS) have filmed the Bishop’s Transcripts for the Church of England in Fenny Compton for the years 1662-1871. If your Allington and Maycock ancestors had belonged to the Fenny Compton Church of England and had lived in the parish for several years, you may uncover a great many baptism, marriage, and burial records for these families in the registers.

I believe the name of this church is the Church of St. Peter & St. Claire.

See below for the microfilm numbers:

Bishop's transcripts for Fenny-Compton, 1662-1871

Authors: Church of England. Parish Church of Fenny-Compton (Warwickshire) (Main Author)

Film Number: 428994 Item 2 = Baptisms, marriages and burials, 1662-1809.

Film Number: 502276 Item 2 = Baptisms, marriages and burials, 1809-1846.

Film Number: 350675 Item 1 = Baptisms and burials, 1862-1864.

Film Number: 350679 Item 1 = Baptisms and burials, 1865-1871.
____

The time period you are interested in for the parish registers would be 1662-1809 as noted above. The church registers for 1662-1809 can be found in LDS microfilm number 428994. You can order the film from your nearest Family History Center.

A description of Fenny Compton from the 1848 edition of Lewis’s Topographical Dictionary of England follows. The Topographical Dictionary can be found at the British History Online website at: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/source.asp?pubid=445

COMPTON, FENNY (St. Peter), a parish, in the union of Southam, Burton-Dassett division of the hundred of Kington, S. division of the county of Warwick, 8 miles (N. by W.) from Banbury; containing 615 inhabitants. By measurement made in 1836, this parish comprises 2077 acres, which are chiefly pasture: the Oxford canal passes through it, and there is a wharf for coal. Within the limits of the parish are some quarries of good building-stone. The village lies at the northern base of the Dassett hills, part of which range is included in the parish: to the east of the village were formerly two windmills; one was burnt down about eighteen years since, the other still remains. The living is a rectory, valued in the king's books at £15. 8. 4., and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, who purchased the advowson in 1733. The tithes were commuted for land in 1778; the glebe comprises altogether 412 acres, and there is a glebe-house, built in 1842. The church is a very ancient structure, and is mentioned by Dugdale as having been given in the time of Henry I. to the canons of Kenilworth: in the chancel were formerly three inscriptions in brass to the memory of the family of Willis; one only of these now exists. The Wesleyans have a place of worship; and a national school is supported by subscription. On the summit of Gredenton Hill, in the parish, are vestiges of a British camp in the form of a horse-shoe, 228 yards in length, and defended with six lines of ramparts, between which were fosses round the steep declivity of the hill. Sir Henry Bate Dudley, a comic writer of some note, was born here in 1745.

From: A Topographical Dictionary of England (1848), pp. 675-678.
URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=50893
Date accessed: 15 August 2009.
____

Best Wishes,

Dave Boylan
Actually I have found Fay. She is 99 years old and lives in an assisted living facility in St. George, Utah. He father, August Albert Plonske seems to come from around Post Falls, Idaho. There is a Fred Plonske living in that city now who is very helpful and has a listed telephone number. One of the first Plonskes was supposed to have been a doctor and changed the spelling of his last name to appear to be another nationality rather than the one that he was (?) I have found some of them on the various censuses available online and spelled in different ways.

Lisa

I am tracing the Allington family from Woolpit, Suffolk, England. There is a mystery as to how Robert Josiah Allington, although marrying Mary Underwood on 26th Dec 1862, was actually born with the surname Ollington. Robert's parents were Robert Ollington, shoemaker, and Anna (nee Cornish). I would like to hear from anyone that is either tracing the Allington or Ollington families, to hear how their research is going, thank you

Hi,
As show above, my name is Lee Plonske. I am the son of Edward Stanley plonske and Grandson of Frank D Plonske. I am 63 years old and have been interested in tracing the Plonske name for years. We are from Minnesota and as of this date, I have not found direct relatives before my Grandfather. I do know my great grandparents came to the USA by boat, but I have no more details than that.

I ran across this site while doing a search for my grandsons name, Blake Plonske.

Maybe this will spark or shed some light on the Plonske name.

ps. We also have Plonski's living in a nearby town. They are supposedly distant cousins.

Dear Darlene, Your message sounds very exciting. I am interested to hear if you have found out more about Robert Allington. My husbands name is lyle Robert Allington, and Robert was a family name as we research back. Many of the Allingtons came from Woolpit, near Ipswich, Suffolk England. There may be a connection with the family you are researching. We have met 2 relatives through the internet, one from Australia. It would be so interesting if we could find a link, as families have scattered so widely. Hope to hear how your research is going, regards Dawn Allington
