Mary Agnes Alloway (b. early 1800s) m. David King -- HELP!!

I've hit a total dead end. Myself and a couple of my older relatives have been trying, in vain, to find records of David King and Mary Agnes Alloway. I have copies of handwritten documents claiming their marriage... but no online records can be found.

I know David was born in Lancaster in 1833, and Mary was born 1835 in PA somewhere... I also know she died in 1905 due to paralysis after their 30 y/o son died of a gunshot wound...

David was in some military regiment in PA for the Union during the Civil War...

If this sounds familiar to anyone at all, let me know... I'd REALLY appreciate help!!!
My mother (84 yrs old) is still alive and has many stories about your great grandparents, her aunt and uncle, and remembers her cousins Bill and Bob Alloway fondly. She is the daughter of Maye's older sister Marie and would be happy to talk to you sometime about them. She is one of 4 sisters and 3 of the 4 are still alive (all in their 80's) and would love to talk about old times and share their memories and knowledge with you. My mother spent a lot of time at Frank and Viola Ashworth's farm during the depression and has a reasonable knowledge of the area and population. The farmhouse is still standing, barely, I found it a few years ago, but it is in serious disrepair. You can email me at pilopolus@aol.com. The Achenbachs lived on farms near Bordentown for many years.

I'm interested in her parents' names, as well as the names of her brothers and sisters. Thanks!

Hello Theresa,
I believe we evolve from the same Strange family, (no punn intended). I have several pictures of different Strange family members dating back to late 1800's, some early 1900's. I can e-mail them to you if you like and I can figure out this new scanner. I havent gotten to know it yet. If you would like me to try, send me a direct e-mail to allsteelbld@bellsouth.net and I will do my best. I just thought you might enjoy seeing them. Hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend.

Lynn Howell

I have quite a bit of info on the Alloway Strange line. My grandmother was Leda Strange, her parents were Maude Firquin Strange and I believe, Elmo Strange. Most of my line came from around the Adair county area. I have a family tree, I can see if you grandmother's name pops up.

I suppose it's just a coincidence but an Elizabeth Alloway born in 1850 (Bedford Co., Pa.) married in 1868 to a Henry White born in 1847, also in Bedford Co., Pa., and they both died in Fulton Co., Pa., so there's no indication of a connection to your White-Alloway couple who married in Missouri.

I don't have any relationship to these families. I collect old photos and have one that's identified as "Aunt Elizabeth (Alloway) White, Harry, Jessie". It was taken about 1896 in Iowa City, Iowa, when daughter Jessie (born in 1886) was about 10 years old. Jessie married a David Anderson and she died in Iowa City in 1970. I found these details online and have no additional information. Elizabeth (Alloway) White was a very beautiful woman; she reminds me of the actress Demi Moore.
