Me ha impresionado.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;La mayor parte de lo que sé sobre Crispin de Santiago Palomares proviene del libro, "Almada de Alamos, el diario de Don Bartolome," 1859 a 1863.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Por lo que leo en ese libro, Crispin y Bartolomé eran viejos amigos. En su diario, Bartolome Almada menciona Palomares y su columna de socorro llegando a Álamos de ayuda durante la crisis de los Tacubayas, los insurgentes rebeldes de Sinaloa comandada por Antonio Estevez y la intención de derribar el régimen de Pesqueira.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Almada y Palomares posteriormente saludó entre sí cerca de la ciudad de México, en los terrenos del desfile donde el Presidente Benito Juárez revisado la marcha de las tropas federales en formación.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Como los Corellas, otra familia de Sonora entre antigua y distinguida, los Palomares eran una familia de tradición militar. Uno de sus antepasados españoles fue comandante de un castillo o fortaleza en Orán (presumiblemente en el norte de África) y destruyó el castillo, en lugar de permite que caiga en manos enemigas.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;La primera sonora Palomares, según mis registros, era Leocadio Palomares,y él se casó con la familia Elías González de Zayas.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;El "Santiago" como el segundo nombre de la familia mexicana Palomares es una referencia a la orden militar de caballeros de Santiago, de quien los Palomares de España seguramente eran miembros.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;El nombre "Palomares," creo que es un término derivado con raíces en la palabra "Paloma", español de Paloma.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Gracias nuevamente Rodolfo, para compartir su historia familiar de Palomares!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Saludos,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Peter Almada &lt;br&gt;</description>

      <description>Señor Peter Almada&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;En relacion a su post donde menciona su relacion con Crispin De Santiago Palomares, me gustaria abundar en informaciones que pueden resultar de su interes. El General Coronel Crsipin fue mi CHOSNO, padre de mi tatarabuelo Rodolfo de Santiago palomares a su vez padre de Mi Bisabuelo Rodolfo De Santiago Palomares Diaz Ceballos ( A quien conoci )  padre de mi abuela materna Esther de Santiago Palomares Fregoso. Mi madre Josefina Esther Torres de Santiago Palomares y por esta rama es que soy uno de sus tantos descendientes.&lt;br&gt;Como bien menciona, fue un militar de brillante carrera , habiendo sido jede del estado mayor especial, jeneral en jefe de la primera zona militar, jeneral en jefe del batallon pesqueira, prefecto militar por los estados de Sonora y Sinaloa cuando Manuel Pesqueira era gobernador de ambos estados, fue diputado dos veces, peleo contra los franceses. Si usted entra al Google y hace una busqueda con el nombre de Crispin de Santiago Palomares va a encontgrar un linc con el congresodel estado de Sonora donde puede bajar un resumen muy interesante de la trayectoria de mi Chosno. Me permito abundar que mi tatarabuelo Rodolfo tambien fue un gran militar, comando la batalla del rio yaqui y Mayo, tengo en mi poder la medalla que le otorgo el estado por condecoracion asi como el documento original que le autoriza a usarla, asi como fotografias y un sinumero de documentos originales de los nombramientos militares de todos ellos, Rodolfo tambien refundo el puerto de Huatabampo Sonora, comision que le fue encomendada ya que era ingeniero constructor del ejercito y tengo un ejemplar original del discurso que dio el dia de su reinauguracion, mismo que se imprimio en Chihuahua, estado donde murio a los 36 años por una insuficiencia cardiaca andando en una comision del gobierno federal. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Saludos&lt;br&gt;Rodolfo Vaca Torres&lt;br&gt;</description>

What was your grandmother's name?. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;As I wrote before, Santana Almada Güereña was married to Dolores Obregón Salido, one of their offsprings was Agustín Almada Obregón, who was married to María Cárdenas. They were parents of Dolores Almada Cárdenas, my great grandmother, and Carolina Almada Cárdenas. My great grandmother was niece of Alvaro Obregón Salido because he was brother of her grandmother,her namesake, and a distant cousin of María Félix Güerena, but it is not very clear how, she just told us that she met her once in her life as a teenager at a family party in Culiacán.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;That's all I know, I would really appreciate anything else you could tell me, that's why posted a message in this forum in hope to get more information about the Almadas. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Looking forward to hearing from you!</description>

      <description>Francisco!! por tu descripción parece que tu eres mi tío!. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mi tatarabuelo era Agustín Almada Obregón también hijo de Santana Almada Güereña y Dolores Obregón Salido, por lo que tu abuela y mi tatarabuelo eran hermanos!. Tu debes ser primo tercero de mi abuelo Luis Bouillé Almada, no sé si alguna vez hayas escuchado hablar de el. El una vez, cuando mi madre era niña fue a Culiacán a visitar parientes por parte de mi bisaabuela Lola, quien era de Culiacán y se llamaba Dolores por Dolores Obregón. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mi abuela fue huerfana de padre desde muy chica y su tío Álvaro fue su tutor, por lo que todos lo veranos la invitaba de vacaciones a la ciudad de México, llegando incluso a hospedarse en el Castillo de Chapultepec cuando su tío fue presidente. Ella nos contaba que jugaba con primo Mayo, a quién su padre le puso así por el mismo río que pasa por Sonora. Mi bisabula tuvo una hermana, quién ya también falleció hace tiempo, se llamaba Carolina Almada Cárdenas. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Yo no tengo ninguna foto de Don Santana, ni de Agustín Almada, pero mi abuelo si apenas me las pase me gustaría compartirlas contigo, no sé si tengas Facebook, si es así me gustaría agregarte. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mucho gusto haber sabido de tí tío, un saludo y un abrazo fuerte</description>

Dolores Obregón Salido debe haber sido la hermana de la Cenobia Salido, la esposa de Francisco Obregón. &lt;br&gt;Estos fueron los padres de Alvaro Obregón, Presidente de México a principios del siglo XX.&lt;br&gt;Don Alvaro trabajó por su antecesor, Santana Almada en Sonora, México.&lt;br&gt;Don Santana contraída una plantación de surgarcane, creo.&lt;br&gt;Mi antecesor, Carlos Almada nació en Culiacán, Sinaloa en 1884.&lt;br&gt;Hay algunas dudas sobre la identidad de su madre.&lt;br&gt;Ella podría haber sido Dolores Guerena de Alamos, Sonora o Ricarda Díaz, de Culiacán.&lt;br&gt;De hecho, Don Carlos y Don Santana estaban relacionados, y de hecho Don Santana descendiente de Ruperto Almada, que él mismo era el hijo de Don José María Almada y su segunda esposa, doña Mercedes Ibarra.&lt;br&gt;Tengo Andrades en mi familia, pero vinieron de Sinoquipe, una aldea India ópata en Sonora.&lt;br&gt;Por desgracia, no pose ninguna foto del Don Santana.       <description>I am working on my family tree of the Almada-Valenzuela Family. My Great Grandmother Was Librada Piña Almada, born Aug 17 1873, Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico. She was an only child. Her father was Jesus María Almada and her mother was Dolores de Jesus (Jesusita) Piña. Librada married Crisóstomo Valenzuela on July 20, 1888, Tucson, Pima, Arizona.  Crisóstomo was born on January 27, 1864 in San Jose de Pima, Sonora Mexico. His father was Jesus Valenzuela from Mexico and his mother was Dolores Noriega born abt. 1848 in Buena Vista, Sonora, Mexico. In 1884, Crisóstomo came to the USA and lived in the Tucson Arizona Area and worked as a miner. He died Feb. 2 1911 in Tucson. Librada died in 1912 Tucson Arizona. Librada and Crisóstomo had 10 children. Augustina Valenzuela Noriega Gallego(1889), Francisco Valenzuela(1890), Susana Valenzuela Quintero(1895), Elisa Valenzuela Aragón(1897), Crisóstomo Valenzuela Jr.(1899), Jesus Dolores Valenzuela Ramirez(1900), Manuel Valenzuela(1902), Gertrudes(Tula)Valenzuela Garcia Pacheco(1904), Juan Valenzuela(1906), and Rafael Valenzuela(1909). I am looking for their descendants. I am hoping there is somebody out there that might be related to them or has some information about their families. In the link I copied to this letter, I found a man named Marcelino Almada, who is also mentioned by you in your blog, saying he moved to Culiacán, where my great-grandmother was from, he was married to Dolores Güereña and had two children Marcelino and Aurora, but I do not know if there are more children's information missing.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;My great-grandmother Dolores Almada Cárdenas was a grandchild of Santana Almada Güereña, she was daughter of Agustín Almada Obregón. She died in 2009, aged 95, and my grandfather Luis Bouillé Almada does not know the name of Santana Almada's parents so I think that maybe he was son of Marcelino Almada.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I would really appreciate if you could give us more clues about our family background.       <description>Hello Ed,&lt;br&gt;Thanks for posting the query; I'll try to answer it as best &lt;br&gt;I can.&lt;br&gt;To be sure, while I bear the Almada name, I am by no means&lt;br&gt;a professional genealogist, merely an enthusiastic amateur.&lt;br&gt;That said, the earliest known origin of Almada as a "name" was in the Kingdom of Portugal.&lt;br&gt;In an evolution of language and spelling, the Moorish mining colony of Al-Madin, just south of the capital city of Lisbon, changed to Almada, a change made presumably by Christians.&lt;br&gt;In terms of the "oldness" of the Almada name, I would say &lt;br&gt;this name first emerged sometime in the 12th century A.D.&lt;br&gt;Remember that it was not until the 1100's that the Portuguese Crusaders under Afonso Henriques(first king of &lt;br&gt;Portugal) initiated an aggressive offensive into Moorish domains that had been Arabic for centuries.&lt;br&gt;In this process, Moorish names underwent a slight transformation in spelling, for example "al-Oshbuna" became &lt;br&gt;"Lisbon", "Shantarem" became "Santarem," "Al-qasr" became &lt;br&gt;"Alcazar" or "Alcocer."&lt;br&gt;And "Al-madin" became "Almada."&lt;br&gt;In terms of the first Portuguese to bear the Almada surname,&lt;br&gt;that would be Vasco Lourenco de Almada (or in some documents&lt;br&gt;Almadao)circa 1270 A.D.&lt;br&gt;If there were any other Portuguese before him with the &lt;br&gt;Almada name, their names are presently unknown.&lt;br&gt;As you can see, the place name of Almada clearly antedates &lt;br&gt;the first man to bear the Almada surname.&lt;br&gt;Portuguese historians say that this Vasco Lourenco de Almada's earliest known ancestor was an Englishman by the &lt;br&gt;name of Saher of Archelle, who along with many other &lt;br&gt;English, French and German soldiers, helped King Henriques &lt;br&gt;capture the city of Lisbon, circa 1147.&lt;br&gt;I hope this helps, Ed.       <description>Hi, I am honored that you find the Almada Family of Marin County so intriguing. My mother and my aunt know more than I do, so I'll have to talk to them some more. Mary deBorba became windowed after Anthony died of the flu in 1918. She was left to raise six children (3 sons, 3 daughters) by herself. She was known to be very assertive and firm. She could not attend her own husband's funeral because she herself had become ill with the flu, along with her children. I just got off the phone with my mom and she told me her cousins in Mill Valley know more as their father, Anthony Almada, was the son of Anthony Joaquin Almada. </description>

It's nice to meet you too Jon! &lt;br&gt;I had no idea the Almada Diaspora extended to the Napa/Solano area, however I believe the Vallejo family once &lt;br&gt;had properties in that picturesque part of California. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Question Jon: &lt;br&gt;Were your ancestors John Brazil Almada, and Manuel A.and Manuel C. Almada, dairy farmers?&lt;br&gt;The data I have concerning Manuel P. Almada and his sons Anthony Joaquin and Joaquin Frank Almada indicate they descended from dairy farmers in Marin County.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I am familiar somewhat with the surnames Macedo and Bettencourt, and in fact the famous Portuguese genealogist&lt;br&gt;Felgueiras Gaio documented a possible family origin for the&lt;br&gt;Macedos at the Battle of Aljubarrota (1385), wherein a &lt;br&gt;Portuguese Knight recovered the King's mace (macedo),&lt;br&gt;and for this honorable deed the knight kept "Macedo" as a family name.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;So, your Almadas originated in the Azores, correct? Then &lt;br&gt;your line comes in close genealogical orbit to the bloodline&lt;br&gt;of the Counts of Almada, for the first Portuguese to bear&lt;br&gt;that title hailed from the islands, and not the mainland.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I do have some data  concerning Almada marriages published&lt;br&gt;in the Marin County Journal. The information is as follows:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Marin County Journal, Thursday, April 17th, 1902, Page 8&lt;br&gt;Marriage Licenses:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Antonio P. Almada, age 29, of San Rafael, and Maria A. Machado age 21, of Tiburon&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Marin County Journal, Thursday, September 21st, 1905, Page 8&lt;br&gt;Marriage Licenses:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Manuel P. Almada, age 35, to Mary de Borba, age 20, both &lt;br&gt;of Novato &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;John C.       <description>Dear Peter,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I come directly from the Napa Almada family. John Brazil Almada and Palmira Silva are my direct ancestors with Manuel A. Almada and Manuel C. Almada being close relatives also who did well in and around the Napa/Solano area from about 1860 or so onward. I do have some pretty detailed history of the clan with a lot of names and the like so feel free to contact me if interested. There are other family names too, such as the Macedos, BettenCourts and of course, many, many Silvas. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;There was a Frank T. Almada in our family who passed in 1975 and his brother John J. Almada who were descendants of Maria Candida. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Almost all of these people came from either St. George or Pico. She and Maria Elena Almada Montijo (on the right side) were Refugio’s nieces and Ernesto Almada's daughters. Eva Dolores got married with Jesús Preciado Morales (on the center)  on March of 1953 months later after the picture was taken.       <description>Carmen Almada is my great grandmother sister I have enough records that suggested she married into the Dominguez surname.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;So far I have not found out more information other then the Border Crossing document that proves this.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Her parent would be Ernesto Almada b 1857 and mother Franscica UNKOWN b 1866.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In a 1917 Border Crossing Document he is listed as a Civil Judge from Cananea, Mexico.</description>

      <description>Hello to all:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I've recently discovered in the book "Knights at Court:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Courtliness, Chivalry, &amp;amp; Courtesy from Ottonian Germany to &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;the Italian Renaissance" by Aldo Scaglione that in &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1465, in Mantua, Italy, Joao de Almada the Count of &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Abranches, engaged Juan de Beaumont, a Spanish Knight from &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Navarre, in a formal duel. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Moreover, the powerful Francesco de Sforza, Duke of Milan,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;agreed to preside over the duel as judge. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The source of this material was derived from the Italian &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;author Riquer, but I can find no further corroborating &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;sources. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;While I am not familiar with Almada family history in &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Italy, I do know that in the 1460's, the Count of Abranches&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;was named Dom Fernando de Almada (actually the second &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Count after his father), so I wonder if it was actually Dom &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fernando who dueled against Juan de Beaumont in Mantua. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;That said, is anyone familiar with Mexican American Mayors&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;of Norwalk, CA? &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;For years, it was told to me that my grand uncle, Harry&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Manuel Almada, was the Mayor of that city. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Gracias Familia!!!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Best Regards,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Peter Almada &lt;br&gt;</description>

Briggs in Nogales, Ariz.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She married Robert Fernandez on June 21, 1936, in Nogales and was a homemaker.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She is survived by her son, Darren Briggs of Los Angeles; three daughters, Terri Aure of Porterville, Gayle Lowe of Ashfork, Ariz. and Alicia Elliott of Desert Hot Springs; a brother, Robert Briggs of Long Beach; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fernandez.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Wiefels Desert Hot Springs Mortuary.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Due to an error, the following obituary is being reprinted.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I tried to reach a Robert Briggs. I was told on phone that the one phone number of Robert Briggs had just passed away 4 months ago. =(</description>

I had no idea that you lived near Petaluma / Novato.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Granted I've never personally passed through those cities;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I only been as far north as San Francisco (love the &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;sourdough bread at Fisherman's Wharf!)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Regarding Cuca Almada, how much of an accomplished musician &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;was she?       <title>Addendum to the Joined Houses of Ignacio Almada and his brother, Jose Maria Almada</title>

      <description>As I mentioned in an earlier posting, the children of &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Nacho Almada and his brother Jose Maria intermarried quite &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;extensively, however I did not mention the union of &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Rafael Almada (son of Jose Maria) with Trinidad Almada (&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;daughter of Ignacio).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;This family, which procreated five children, Ygnacio &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Lorenzo Almada, Rafael J., Alfredo, Angelína y Elena,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;lived on the ranch of Yocojihua(*this is according to the &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;will of Rafael Almada Sr). &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;His eldest son, Ignacio Lorenzo Almada, was a bookkeeper &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;for one of the most important foreign mining companies&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;in the Alamos district. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Angelina Almada, already a double Almada herself, married &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Ygnacio Emigdio Almada. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Elena Almada, for a time, lived on Calle Aurora, a street&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;in Alamos. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The Almada ranch in Yocohijua apparently produced mezcal,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;as did many large and small ranchos around Alamos.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The above information is just a snapshot view of the &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;complex history of the Almadas of Alamos, but it is one &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;that continues to unravel.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Gracias Familia!!!!!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Peter Almada &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>
