Am interested in making contact with any descendants of Henry and Lydia Ann Rush Allspaugh. Been researching the Alspaugh family for 20 years and have not been able to determine where Henry and Lydia were married. Think it was probably in Pennyslvania but not sure. Also have not been able to determine where and when Henry died. Believe he died in Ohio between 1844 and 1849. Willing to share all information on the children of Henry and Lydia.

S. Alspaugh of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1883

S. Alspaugh, Cincinnati - hurt in the leg.

Cincinnati, Ohio, March 30, 1883

In the woods. a mile south of Mason, Ky., forty miles from Cincinnati, at 5:30 this morning, the northbound express passenger train met with a disastrous accident and its passengers suffered a rude and painful awakening. The train consisted of an engine, baggage, smoker, ladies’ car and two sleepers, one from Vicksburg and the other from Jacksonville. There is a sharp curve at this point and an embankment forty feet high. The train was going at full speed when the engineer felt a rail yield. He instantly applied the brakes and in an instant heard a frightful crash and saw his train, except the baggage car, hurled right and left down the embankment.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Catskill archives." The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://www.catskillarchive.com/rrextra/intocean.Html

Eva Alspaugh is listed as a senior student in 1924 at Central High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 1924 yearbook has her picture, and says she was in: T. Club, Athletic Ass'n, Girl Reserves. Also it says, "When you see a shy little girl who says little, observes much, thinks logically, acts acordingly and takes home grade cards filled with A's, you will know that this is our only little Eva. She is a history shark as well as a noted seamstress, but we think she will have more need for the latter."

I'm not related, but I thought her family would like this information from the yearbook.

Leah (Pearson) Reich
Email: geofiles@aol.com
My family web site: http://www.familytreeheritagelibrary.com

Alspaugh info request

Hello,
I'm new to this type of research and can use all the advice I can get. My maiden name is Alspaugh and I would love to find any advice any of you may have for me, concerning how to go about looking into my ancestry. I believe Alspaugh's originally hailed from Germany and the original spelling was Alspach. I read somewhere that when they came to America, there was two different Americanized spellings of the same name. So, here's what I have for you so far starting with my self:
(1)Kelly J. Alspaugh b:June 1967 in K.C.MO m:April 1986; (2)Father~John G. Alspaugh III b:Jan. 1943 in Moberly, MO m: April 1964; (3) Grandfather~John G. Alspaugh Jr. b: Dec. 1916? d:Jan. 1976; Great-granddad~John G. Alspaugh~facts..I don't know.:) I know his father was Wilson Alspaugh. That's as far back as I know. Very few facts, sorry.

Kelly

Alspaugh/Allspaw/Alspaw of Henry County, Indiana

I am looking for information on the family of William Henry Alspaugh born October 2, 1839, in Henry Indiana; married Nancy Malinda McKee on February 7, 1861; and died March 7 (year unknown). He is buried in Hess Cemetery, Cadiz. They had a son, Moses William Alspaugh, born May 27 1867, married Harriet Anderson on November 17, 1887, and had children including Hava, Earle, Chlora, Flossie, "Keed," Buford, Juanita, Mildred, and Ruby. My grandmother was Mildred Blanche Alspaugh. She married Joseph Sodja of Butte, Montana, and Payette Idaho; and they had three children. My mother was Josephine, the oldest. My Great Aunt Chloe (Chlora Harkins) worked on a really extensive geneology in the 1960s, but I don't know how to find the information now. I would be grateful for any help that may be out there. Thank you. Janet Armstrong

ALSPAUGH/ALSPACH from Fairfield Co., OH to central IN

Jacob B. ALSPACH b 1797 m/1 Elizabeth ALBRIGHT, m/2 Mary MILLER 1827 in Perry Co., OH. Supposedly this Jacob B. ALSPACH died 1857 in Miami Co., IN, and I'm wondering if it's the same Jacob B. Alspach that appears in the 1850 and 1860 census index as being in Wayne Twp., Henry Co., IN (have not seen census, only index).

Jacob had a brother Jonathan Alspach/Alspaugh b 1799 who married a Mary FOOR in 1820. Supposedly this Jonathan also died in Miami Co., IN in 1863. This information all comes SECOND HAND and not documented -- which is why I'm here :) Another of their siblings, Elizabeth ALSPACH b 1802 m Georg Friedrich FOOR b abt 1860. They, also, ended up in Miami Co., IN. Am trying to find out if Mary FOOR and Fred were siblings.

Searching for cemetery info, census info, contacts, etc., on this ALSPACH/ALSPAUGH/ALSPAW lineage.

John Alspaugh/Allspaugh m. "Kate", PA 1870 census

I am looking for information on John Allspaugh (as it is spelled in the 1870 & 1900 census records of PA) - he was born in PA 1827-29, married to 'Kate', and had 2 daughters: Amanda (b.1852, PA) & Clara (b.1855, PA - my gggrandmother). He was a carpenter/cabinet maker. I assume Kate died before 1900 as she is not listed with John and he was living with Clara and Amanda in Clara's household in Scranton, PA. He is also listed in 1890-92 Scranton directories (again spelled Allspaugh) - in 1892 he is shown with middle initial F. and boarding @ 364 N. Garfield Ave., (so Kate probably died before 1892) , occupation: carpenter. I have not been able to locate him in 1850 or 1860. Family legend says they may have been in Ohio for a time, and there may be a connection to PA Dutch. There is a census listing for a John Allspaugh in OH with a son who would have been in the appropriate age group to be my John (maybe my John was a Jr.?) Anyone able to make a connection, please contact me?

Clara Elizabeth Alspaugh of PA

I'm looking for any information on my maternal gggrandmother, Clara E. Alspaugh. She married Frank Green and had 4 children: George, Arthur, Fred and Stella. They lived in Scranton, PA. The 1880 census had her age as 25, so she was born in either 1855 or 1854. Family oral history told she came from possibly Amish or Quaker or similar background. She died 11/17/1938 - I don't know where. If you can make any kind of connection, please e-mail me. Thanks
