Hello Everyone,

I am doing research on my Alston family line from Warrenton, N.C.

Relatives : Margaret and Daniel Alston (born around 1830) parents of John Alston (1863).

My branch of the Alston family from Warrenton, N.C. intermarried with slaves from the Tynes and Burgess Plantations of Halifax, N.C.

From N.C., the family line migrated VA (the Petersburg, Norfolk, and Richmond areas) in order to obtain better employment working for the railroads.

So far, I've located a lot of census records, death certificates, SSNs, land records, family bible info, and church records.
One church in Virginia is sitting on a pile of records they have on former slaves. Apparently, the church was started by former slaves when some church members (white) refused to worship next to the slaves. Thus, land was given by the white church members for the creation of a new church - attended by Alstons.

If any of this information is of interest, please contact me by e-mail. Thanks.
