My husband is a descendant of Francis Alsup and Solomon Bond. Hubbies mother was a Bond. Her father was Charles Powell Bond. His father was Robert Henry Bond, and his father was Asaph Bond. Asaph was the son of Solomon and Francis. I think Asaph was named after Francis' brother Asaph Alsup that built the old Alsup Grist Mill in Wilson county Tn.
What Bond does your mother descend from? You are probably related to my hubbie! kimberhopkins@comcast.net

I have a lot of information of the Alsup's of Rutherfod County, Tn. My mother and her sisters worked on this family because a Frances Alsup married a Solomon Bond in 1815. My mother was a Bond. However, I still have a lot of Alsup information. There were a number of marriages between the Bond and Alsup and Edwards families. Both are buried in Hamilton cty Ohio.
Mattie Pace abt 1847 inMO, the daughter of Russell Pace from KY and have no nmae for her mother but she was from VA.
What's interesting is that Mattie and Jennie were both born in MO and we are hoping for a connection.
These Alsup seem to drift around alot because I haven't been able to find them in any kind of census record or anything kind of record.
If you have any info I woouldgreatly appreciate it.
Thanks Raida L.
I am trying to find out the father of my GGrandmother Jennie (Virginia Lee)Alsup.
In a 1880 census record from Yolo County CA I find her living with Lewis & Mattie(Pace) Cramer.
The record shows she is 13 yrs old born in CA and Occp-servant. It shows her mother born in PA who is Harriet Barney and lists her father from MO. This is all the information I have on this mystery man.

I do not know why she is living with the Cramer's as a servant.
Lewis Cramer is from OH or KY and was born about 1836.
His parents are Lawrence and Mary(Barbary)Cramer, both natives of Germany. They are buried in Hamilton, OH
His wife Mattie Pace was born in MO and since Jennie is also showing a MO as birthplace we hope there is a conection.
Mattie's father is Russell Pace born in KY and have no name for her mother but she is from VA.
Virginia Lee(Jennie) Alsup fist married to John Gunter in Yolo Cty CA 6/18/1881. 2nd husband Franklin Freemont Steel(also born in MO) 9/17/1884 in Tehama Cty, CA and 3rd husban John Sunderland married 3/19/1909 also in Tehama CTY, CA
Any information would greatly be appreciated.
Raida L.
Reba Alsup's Connections may be out of service for a while. Those of us on AOL have had our web sites lost - management decision. Reba is trying to establish her old site in another location.

My Allsup Update site has also been diverted. It will not be reestablished. I can make CD copies for anyone who would like to see the newsletters (1992-2005).
Henry

Tammy, I can help you with the McGills. I am 10th gen. and can trace back to 1651. I have a book compiled by a 3rd cousin. There are also many pictures, wills, etc. But I don!t remember seeing anything about a murder or fire, either. Let me know if you are still interested. Are we "family"? Alice McGill

Penny, I have Martha J. Watson, who married Wm. Carroll McGill, my ggggrandfather, as well as some Pressons in a book of my ancestors. I can trace the McGill line back to Robert, who came to America in 1651 from Co Antrim, Ireland. I am 10th generation in this line. I know some of my ancestors were in Benton co., Tenn. There are some pictures in the book, too. Glad to share! Alice McGill

The Charles Buford Alsup who married Susie Edgeworth on 25 Jul 1897, in Monroe County, MS, was the second of six children of Lycurgus Alsup & Mary Elizabeth Whitworth. He was born 12 Apr 1875, in Monroe County, MS.

Charles and Susie had four children that appear in my database; Iva M (1898), Fannie L. (1899), Charles, Jr. (1902), and Alton (1904). Susie died in 1913. Charles, Sr. then married Sydney McCloud. He and Sydney had a daughter, Dorothy in 1924.

This is the family I have named the Douglas County, MO Alsups, for the prominent part they played in the development of that area. You can learn more about them by visiting my website. http://members.aol.com/hconor/index.htm

I don't have any more information on the families of the children, so would appreciate whatever you can add.
Henry - Keeper of the Alsup Flame
