Charles Philip Alt was born in Alsace-Lorraine, France fin Oct 1867, from what we understand. His wife was Helen Spille. Charles/Carl/Karl was German and he had maybe one brother named Heinrich and maybe other siblings but we're not sure. He came to the US sometime between 1880-1886. His father had changed their name to Alt from Von Alt or Von Alto. Charles may have lived in Stuttgart prior to leaving Germany for the US.
