Has anyone ever attempted to see if immigration papers still exist for Valentin Alt? He came over on the ship "Davy" and took his oath of allegience in Philadelphia in Oct 1738. I had once inquired w/the York County PA about this but was given no leads. It would be wonderful if we could get ahold of a copy of this, providing something still exists.

John Alt is my grandfather is was born: 1897 in Johnstown, P.A.. My grandmother name was Adeline Pergosky she was born: October 12, 1902 in Wheeling West Virginia. My father name is Bill Marchu he was born: February 9, 1945 he has a twin sister. when they were born John Alt was 48 years old and Adeline Pergosky was 32 years old. They were never married. He stayed around for two years. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Charles (b1869 d1944) immigrated in 1898 into USA (port unknown) and settled in Johnstown, PA. He is buried with his wife Carrie in Immaculate Conception (St. Marys) Cemetery Johnstown, PA,

Joseph (b1887 d1952) immigrated through the Port of Baltimore June 1904 on the S/S Neckar and settled in Johnstown, PA. He is buried w/ wife Helen in St. Francis Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.

I am searching for information a Robert Langdon, father of Robert , b 1938. Robert was adopted by Robert A Alt and his wife Edith. Robert and Edith Alt are in the Franklin Co, OH 1930 census with no children as of then.

There are two 22 yr old female boarders in that 1930 household: Helen Smith and Ruth Ann Lindsay.

I am trying to find this Robert Langdon and the female he fathered the adopted Robert with.

Peter Alt would have been born around 1785 in one of the German states. He married Elizabeth Hofmeister, and they had at least one son.

This son, John (or Johan) was born July 3, 1816 in “Brusenborn Community, State – Hessen, Darmstadt." He came to America in 1842, and ultimately located in Carroll County, Missouri.

I am trying to research the Alt's from Pennsylvania.
All I know is my greatgrandfather's name was Merill Alt born 1893 in Pennsylvania to Samuel Alt (b 1864? d 3-06-1902) and Sarah Logue. I know my greatgrandfather (Merill) had 3 other brothers and 2 sisters- one brother was Floyd one was Johnny I do not know the others sisters were Emma and Pearl. Apparently Merill was the only Alt to come to Oklahoma. I know that Samuel's father was John Alt I believe also born in Pennsylvania.
Any info would be really great esp on John Alt father of Samuel.
Apparently somewhere along the line somehow we are distant relatives to Pres James Buchanan ( I believe some type of decent from one of James Buchanan's brothers ..There was a 100 year lease on some land in Manhattan that after lease exp (around 2000) was suppose to go to heirs. My great uncle Jack Alt has this info but has not seen it since 1937 when he recieved the lease at around age 11? ( although he is trying to look for it; apparently my grandfather Ray Alt(d 1961) also had a copy...)

John ALT eventually ended up in St. Louis while his sisters stayed in or around New York. Louise who died around 1913 had atleast one son George WOLDT. Catherine never had any children. John ALT's father was Andreas ALT from Metzlos and I believe his wife was Maria BLUM(?). Mr. Alt was a retired Westvaco Corporation employee, a member of the Mineral County Senior Citizens and a life membere of the United Papermakers and Paperworkers Union, Local 676.
Mr. Alt was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Etta (Shreve) Alt.
Surviving are four sons, Dayton Alt, Belington, W. Va.; Charles B. Alt Jr., RD 2, Keyser; Ira C. Alt., Baltimore; and Robert l. Alt, RD 1, Keyser; five daughers, Mrs. Mabel R. Alridge, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Beulah Staggs, RD 1, Keyser; Mrs. Mary M. Neff, Hot Springs, Va.; Mrs. Catherine Robinson, Staunton, VA, and Mrs. Ruth D. Fazenbaker, Westernport; 30 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Samuel Nelson - Petersburg, W. Va. - Mrs.Lucinda Nelson, 87, of Cabins, died yesterday in Grant Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Pendleton County, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Emily (Shreeve) Kimble, Mrs. Nelson was twice married and both her husbands, George W. Alt and Samuel Nelson, preceded her in death. She was a member of the Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harrison VanMeter and Mrs. Estie VanMeter, both of Cabins, and Mrs. Emma Self, Grottoes, Va.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucy Aires, Cabins; a son, Andy Alt, bushy Run; two brothers, Adam and John Kimble, both of Bushy Run; 34 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Schaeffer Funeral Home."

"Nelson Service - Petersburg - A service for Mrs. Lucinda Nelson, 87, of Cabins, who died Sunday will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p. m. at the Assembly of God Church, Smoke Hole. Rev. Earl Hartzle will officiate and interment will be in the Shreeves Cemetery, Smoke Hole.

Found in Cuyahoga County, Ohio probate records the marriage of Vera ALT or ALLT (both on record) to Andrew KOVACS. I have very little information on Vera. She was listed as Veronica in the obiturary for Andrew. She proceeded him in death, sometime in the 1940s. He was born 1898 in Hungary and died 1971 in Clevleand.

Does anyone have a Vera or Veronica ALT in their family? The ethnicity of my family (so far) is Hungarian. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :-)

Helen Alt Lodin, age 89, of Albuquerque and formerly of Dupont, PA, died Saturday, June 21, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince in June 1999. The daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Koterba Alt. Dearly beloved sister of Paul Alt of Dupont, PA and the late John Alt of Mt. Pocono, PA devoted and adored stepmother of Ginger Kloppenberg and husband, Ken. Also surviving are grandsons, Jerry Kloppenberg and family and Craig Kloppenberg and family, great grandchildren, Kelsie, Corbin and Lodin, several nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of nursing in 1934. A registered nurse, she inspired all around her by her determination, faith and energy she will be in our hearts always. Viewing and visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2003 with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Deacon Frank C. See officiating. Charles Philip Alt was born in Alsace-Lorraine, France fin Oct 1867, from what we understand. His wife was Helen Spille. Charles/Carl/Karl was German and he had maybe one brother named Heinrich and maybe other siblings but we're not sure. He came to the US sometime between 1880-1886. His father had changed their name to Alt from Von Alt or Von Alto. Charles may have lived in Stuttgart prior to leaving Germany for the US.

She and her brothers, Robert, Gary, Thomas, Arthur (and another who slips my mind but now resides in Florida) and the children of Floyd Alt and Edith Skelton Alt. Floyd Alt, and at least one brother, Jack(John)Alt, are the sons of the late John Alt, who lived in Elmhurst, PA for a number of years. WILLARD-Geraldine Marie (Schwab) Alt, 83, of Linden Lane, died Tuesday at Hillside Acres Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Bellevue, and had lived most of her life in the New Washington and Attica areas.
She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Attica. She retired from the Willard Area Hospital, where she was a housekeeper.
She is survived ny sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Donna Schwab of Huron and Buddy and Brenda Schwab of Old Fort; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Floyd Sisinger of Delphos, June and Ronald Stone of Cary and Nancy and Ronald Featheringill and Donna Weithman, all of Willard; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Leonard and Jeanette Schwab of Republic; and 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Schwab; her second husband, Harold Alt; her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Greene) Rhinehart; sisters, Ireta Karl and Eleanor Westbrook; and brothers, Joseph Rhinehart and Donald Rhinehart.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Attica with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.
Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Attica.
