I have found a Nicholas Altman in the 1850 Putnam Co. census, Riley Twp. Right next door to Hancock Co. In fact, he is probably buried in Clymer Cemetery in Hancock Co. (1852 death date, according to Findlay Hancock Co. Library Obit database). He bought land through the Ohio Land buy and signed the document in 1837, and the paper says he came from Richland County. Has anyone else found this Nicholas? Following is his listing from the 1850 census:
