I recently have found that my grandfather MILTON BAXTER ALTOM (Jr)? was raised in Stamps,Ak. He has brothers Bill,Hubert and a sister named Nelle. I am trying to create a family tree for my two boys. Hello! JR Altom was my Great Grandpa. His son, Jim, is my grandfather. We have actually probably met before, and just don't know it! haha I remember going to family reuinions in TN when I was younger.

Ryan you can meet some of the family.My cousin Lonnie has been doing a search on the Altom family. Who are your parents?I'm looking for two sisters(Betty Ann (Altom)Marshall(Eunice Irene (Altom)Marshall our mother is Virginia Mae(Genny)(Altom).There Father Elden Marshall. hi Lynn Yes James Bulger Altom did go to the East Fork Section in Illinios and I have found the grave site of some of the family relatives in East Fork . I have been looking for the grave site of James Bulger Altom some of my research show that he is in Franklin County , Mo and others are showing Franklin , Mo . Do you have any thing on this ? or any pictures ? I have been researching my family history for over 9 years and have over 700 people in my tree they are all coming from the Altom in SC

Hey Lonnie,
Tell me, please. This Altom board gets so stagnant sometimes, I'm afraid there are not many of us out there looking into this family. You know, the Altoms in SC lived not far from the Burton family that lived in Newberry, too-and then two of then mysteriously appeared together in IL. I have always suspected that James Bulger might have been related in some way to Gibeon Burton of Newberry, SC then of Marion County, IL- another relation of mine. The Clinton and Marion County 1881 history book says that James Bulger was a native of TN, but- they also said that about Burton- I found out through SC research that he was not. Altom is just not a common name- there has to be some relation to the SC Altoms!

I am looking for any direct relatives of Oliver Harvey Altom/Altum of the Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas Area. He was born July 20, 1875, in Marion County Illlinois. He died November 26, 1911, at Sivell's Bend, Cooke County , Texas, and is buried at the Red River Cemetery. He married Lora Belle Stice.
I am a Great Grandaughter of his brother Charles Alvie Altum. I would like to share info. and photos with you.

Rebecca Altom's S. C. marriage to Goggins

I have a trancripted copy of James Aultom's will in which he names all of his
children, dated October 12, 1798. He refers to Rebekah Goggins and Sarah
Waldrip by their married names, and says Sarah is the eldest daughter. Sarah
married Solomon Waldrop. The Waldrop's married into the Goggans family
also. It is written that
Rebekah (or Rebecca) married James
Goggins, but there is more than one James Goggins (or Goggans) that could be
the groom. I have done extensive research on the Goggins/Goggans line and some
on the Altom line and Waldrop line. Do you have any information that would
help, such as where Rebekah and husband lived in S. C. and/or Georgia(and what
name do you have for her husband). What was her date of death, and where. I
have some doubtful information as to her only son. Do you know anything about
him? I will be glad to share information. Thank you, Harry Goggins.

I am looking for any information regarding my great-grandfather who's surname was Altom. He was married to Maria Heath and had two children from this union, Eliza Ann born in 1865 and Allen, or Alan or Alley, a son. Family lore says that this "Altom" was either full blood Cherokee or partially of native American desent. Any clues would be a big help.

James Bulger Altom

I am trying to find information on James Bulger Altom, Born in TN in the late 1700's. He relocated to CLinton Co., IL around 1818 and was married to Sarah S. Nichols. Do any Altom or Nichols reasearchers know if his parents are James and Phoebe Altom found in TN in late 1700's. Oscar Altom (Alton) married my grant-mother Addie Jane Marshall in Illinois circa 1899 and issued Everett in 1900 and Everett died in 1914 Edwards County. Know that Oscar was in (seven)Hickory twp. Charleston, Coles Co., Illinois in the 1900 census. There was a Harley Altom there also. Am going to be researching this information. My grandmother married my grandfather in 1903 (Stephen Hill). This union produced 4 boys, one of which was my father. Thanks alot for your help.

She was born May 14, 1937 in Licking, MO, the daughter of Grover and Callie Jones Hayes. She married Bobby Alton in 1955 in Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death in 1990.
Survivors: a son, Randean Altom of Springfield, and two grandchildren.
